Searching for a LVN to BSN program. Any recommedations?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Updated:   Published

Hey there nurses!

I am located in Southern California, Chino Hills CA to be exact and am looking for a

LVN to BSN bridge program(preferably somewhere in California, but am also interested in other states as well)

I will be getting in contact with Azusa Pacific University(Pasadena), Holy Names University(Oakland, CA) and National University sometime this week and just wanted to know if there were any other schools to choose from.

I got my LVN license late last year, took some certification courses early this year and have been looking for a job since. And I'll just say its been tough... working is still an option but am very interested in going back to school. So any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!!

As I get more information on the schools I am in contact with, I will update you all with uptodate information and requirements, etc

Thanks again and best of luck to you all who are seeking for higher education!!!

Wow I love your idea taking the pre reqs out of state but you had to pay high out of state tuition fees right?

Also was it hard getting a job out of state while you were attending school?

I'm in California are there any schools near by to finish the pre reqs fast without having to pay out of state tuition and who will hire me in home health while I'm attending school?

Thanks

To whom are you directing this question?

When I relocated out of California 10 years ago, I became a resident of Texas and qualified for in-state tuition rates when I enrolled at the local community college. Finding an LVN position here in TX was easy; I secured employment the day after receiving my temporary license in the mail.

Danny, you are asking some good questions. thanks

thanks so much for your info, I would move out of state but how can I use my LVN to work somewhere else? Isn't my license only good for California and I can most likely only work in home health since they are kinda flexible for students or what do you suggest?

HI, I guess all nurses had an update or something because before when I would click on reply it would copy the previous info but now I see it's not doing it. I also clicked on reply to that actual person but I see now it's just coming as a random question/comment. I don't even remember who exactly this was for. I was working the night shift on my phone. Thank you too for your info

If you want to work in another state, you simply obtain an LPN/LVN license by endorsement from that state's board of nursing. There's an endorsement application you must complete, fees you must pay, and fingerprinting you must undergo.

I will add that "it depends". I was not eligible to endorse my California LVN license to most other states because many (most) require nurses to have attended nursing school in order to obtain a nursing license in their state. California, and some other states, allow people who never attended nursing school to be nurses in certain limited circumstances.
