Need advice. ..reassurance about Davidson County community college in NC

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hello. I have applied to Davidson county community college in Thomasville NC for Fall 2014 LPN to RN program online. I took the NACE test and made a 80%. I've never taken it before nor anybody in my area. I just wanted to get some insight on this program for out of towners and how hard is it to get in? I've read good things about the school and I enjoyed my time there. I am excited about this new start and ready to get my RN after 4 years of LPN. Please comment. Thanks!

Very fast paced .. everyone still worked while in the program from the recent graduating class ..

also use an ati fundamentals book lpn .. I sent out study material but I've heard the test changed from the one I took the last 2 years .. but it is only fundamentals and calculations as jaz stated

Thank you!!! I will look for an ATI book! Are you still in school?

The benchmark for everyone taking the NACE is an 80 now. If you got your PN from DCCC you will be accepted. Anything lower than an 80 disqualifies you. I just took it and got an 81.

Awesome Apeles!!!! I'm so scared to take it! I always get a 77! Any tips or things we should really study? I've been studying the Saunders NCLEX book.

I had a lot of med surg, a few dosage calcs(IV), priority questions, what needle gauges to use, a couple dietary, and some where you point to a place on a picture of where you would palate pulses, give injections. Patient teaching. Infection control. It really wasn't as hard as I was expecting. I did NCLEX RN review questions to study.

Oh ok. That sounds very similar to to the test last year. Was there any Heart questions? Or lung questions?

Nope, not that I can recall

Well looks like I'll brush up on some of the things you mentioned. This is my 3rd time so needless to say my self confidence is pretty damaged Lol.

Don't feel bad, Jazberry85, it's my 3rd time too.

Thank you Milo! When are you taking it?

I'm taking it this coming friday. I believe it's the last day of the test. From what I am hearing, it's a little more challenging than last year. What about you?
