LVN to RN or BSN programs in CA

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

I am reading a lot about LVN to RN or LVN to BSN programs and I am hearing a ton of negative things. Much of it is about school not being accredited in CA. Can anyone please enlighten me with information about programs that are accepted by the CA Board of Nurses and where are these programs located ? Im looking for an online programs but not against going to my local Santa barbara community college. All input is appreciated thanks!

No one knows of any programs out there?

Western governors university might work?

Other than that it seems like your post is asking about a certain school without giving the name.

The main one i have been reading about is the college network/ Indiana state university. Western govenors university doesnt offer lvn to bsn from what i can see.

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

Western Governors does offer an online entry to practice degree, even if it doesn't credit for LVN education it is an pre-licensure degree (as opposed to RN to BSN programs) that offers online education with clinical sites available in Southern CA. Indiana State/Sonoma State is on hold right now due to issues CABRN has with the agreement and the way the program was administered so for the moment at least that program is not an option. Have you checked out the CABRN website for approved programs? Board of Registered Nursing - RN Programs The table indicates which are LVN to ASN/RN or LVN to BSN/RN programs.

(California regulations require clinical components to be completed the same time as classroom theory which is one reason why Excelsior's program is not accepted)

Good luck.

West coast university is the only one I know of... bout 112,000 for tuition...

I'm enrolled for Jan...

People like it... it's fast... it works...

Can't tell you much more then that... YET...

:)

I graduated from there. Good school! I'm also trying to start WGUin Feb for my masters in education

look into a cal state! tuition is less than $20,000 to complete your lvn to bsn.

you can't go wrong with a cal state!

They don't have LVN to BSN. They are trying it now at one school (I'm in it) and I don't think they will do another because the majority of the staff don't support it (even though our overall gpas are better than the generics). You have to apply just like everyone else and Cal States are competitive. At my school the lowest GPA in the class starting next month is a 3.88.

Not to detour you, I love my school, my program and the price tag, but I don't believe in sugar coating things either. That doesn't help you at all.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I know my response is belated, but I agree with the suggestion to look into the CSU system for an LVN-to-BSN program. For instance, CSU Stanislaus offers one.
