Has anyone on this board gone to Helene Fuld college of Nursing? If so, what was your experience?

I'm so sorry but I have no idea. I don't know anyone who has challeneged the exam. However, I suggest you call the school and ask to speak to the HEAD of the science department. He's a very nice man and will guide you.

I recently applied to HF. How do you like it so far? It is legit in your opinion? Im alittle thrown off by the $1100 Pre-req course required.

any feedback is appreciated!

thanks :)

:nurse:The science 101 given at HF consist of three sciences--general, organic and biochemistry. If you are strong in these courses you may challenge the test, if not it is best to do the course. The course also includes medication dosage and calculations. If you never had general chemistry it is best to apply to a community college and try to do at least a year of chemistry classes. If you had high school chemistry you may do well in this class, because you need to understand the concept. It is a fast paced course that is five weeks of math and five weeks of science. Be forwarned do not delude yourself and waste your money if you have no chemistry knowledge. The school will accept A&P courses that have a C or C-plus that was done in recent years. Get specific information from the college before you start the program so you dont get disappointed. The course have to be recognized as A&P not any other name. The A&P courses given at HF is broken down into three classes not two as traditional fifteen weeks colleges. The science teachers are great (that is what i was told by several students). This school is actually a self taught method--meaning you have to read your books. The instructors at the beginning of the class hand out a syllabus of the course and it is up to you (the student) to keep up with your reading before classes. By doing this, whenever the teachers gives the lecture you will have an idea what he/she is talking about. You definately have to make the time to read and study whether it is twelve, eighteen or twenty-four months that you plan on completing the course. Good luck to all and have a positive attitude. Remember you are there to learn, and when you are in a clinical setting always inform your teacher about any procedure before you do them unless you ha,:redbeathe:yeah::heartbeatve permission ahead of time. Dont be a know-it-all, remember you are a student. Ask questions if you dont know and read, read, read upon clinical assignments before you get there. HFis a good school you just have to be realistic and willing to invest the time and energy into getting your education.

Hi! Just stumbled across your post and it helped me a lot in my questions about HF. I went to an open house there and you know once there everyone makes it sound so great, but I wanted some truth lol. I must admit I was a little blown away by the cost of the SCI 101 ($1107 not including the book)! Felt like I was being scammed ... any insight or more comments about your experience would be great!

thanks

You can't get in without doing the course, POINT BLANK. It's their prereq to see who starts the nursing courses. If you feel you can TEST out of the course, then try it. Otherwise don't let it hinder you from becoming a RN. Have you looked into other schools?

Hi...yes I have, but HF is the most convenient choice I've found thus far. And yes I realize there's no way around it, and I don't mind taking the course. My only deterrent was the financial end unfortunately. I'm considering possibly testing out for 200, but in the event I DONT pass it, I will STILL have to come up with the pre-req course fee. So now Im just mulling everything over, trying to pick up extra hours AND take care of my daughter too. Its a lot...but Im sure everything will work out. I'm determined to reach my next goal (becoming an RN) and wont let anything stop me. Thanks for your feedback&support...I really appreciate it!

Selected Topics in Chemistry & Math: 4.5 credits x $271 = $1220.00

Special Note: NEW TUITION & FEES EFFECTIVE (SPRING) APRIL 2012 FOR ALL STUDENTS. THIS INCLUDES THE CLASS ENTERING APRIL 2012 AND ALL CONTINUING STUDENTS.

The price is going up in April. If you can get rid of that class in Feb. it will be good. Then you can apply for financial aid for April. Someone once told me the longer I STAY a LPN, every year I lose out on RN money. This has always stuck with me!

All the best with your educational venture!

Great! You need to call HF Student Services Dept and see if your school qualifies for the articulation first and they will direct you from there.

divsan, I went to VEEB. http://www.veeb.org. Do you really want to start all over though? Maybe you should post this in another forum because you may not have to go through school here all over again. I'm not sure. All of my childhood and adult education has been in NYC. Sorry.

Has anyone entered HF without any college credits and completed the pre req courses at HF only? I'm working full time and seriously considering quitting and jumping into HF head on.

Thanks
