Nursing Students LPN-RN

I just got accepted to Galen Tampa, FL for their evening/online LPN to RN bridge and I'm trying to see if anyone else is going to be starting then that is on this forum. It would be nice to get to know others who will be in the program with me. I'm excited!

I worked full time but they didn't offer me weekend clinicals my last quarter so it was rough.

The pax is easy, it's basic knowledge.

Thank you! And it's official! My license showed up in the Florida dept of health 48 hours later :-)

@shamrokks how did you study for the Nurs 280 comprehensive exams??I need help with preparing not sure how?

marshandaly - to study for NUR 280 comprehensive exams and the HESI exit exams I used the nclex study guide that is going around the internet and can be found on this page https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/nclex-study-guide-622449.html (copy and paste link). I used LaCharity PDA book because there were a lot of questions pertaining to prioritization and delegation. I searched NUR280 and NUR 280 on Quizlet and read through what people had put on there. I also used the NCLEX Mastery app which I purchased when it was on sale for 19.99. I also got the Lippincott Alternate Format Questions book which I used for NCLEX study more then while in school but it was helpful.

Then I also used all of these to study for the NCLEX (except quizlet).

I really read over the strategies in the beginning of a few books. These helped me when answering a lot of questions. Some that I really wasn't sure of I was able to get right because I used different strategies. Almost all of the textbooks for test prep have these in the front. I read over Kaplan, Saunders, and Lippincott.

There are 2 groups on Facebook - NCLEX and NURSES run by Joan Palmeri. She does workshops on strategy (this was the only one I took and I did not pay for it because she had a contest but it was very helpful and I used her strategies at least half dozen times during NCLEX - wish I had taken while in school), she also does select all that apply workshops and a couple of others. The groups are great by themselves because others post questions all day long and then post the answer and rationale. It is usually the harder questions that have stumped others that get posted so it is a good learning tool and an excuse to be on Facebook :).

I also looked over videos on YouTube to refresh the basics of different disease processes and medications. I like the Michael Linares videos from SimpleNursing. I am a visual learner so seeing and hearing the information helped me retrieve it during exams.

Good luck!

In addition to the things Shamrokks mentioned I used the Judith Miller DVD's with the workbooks. Good luck. I am just waiting for my ATT so I can schedule my exam

Yeah!!

hello, i know this is a old post but i am looking to get into galen april, 2015. I want to work full time and i got a job 8 to 5pm and im afraid its going to conflict with the clinical time (you mentioned you had clinicals from 5pm and on). What hours did you work and were the galen staff understandable when it comes to these type of issues. I dont want to get kicked out because im showing up late to class or clinicals

I'm late to this forum too but have to give you all a high-five for going back to school. I've been an LPN since 1985...I'm 49 now ugh. And feel it too lol. I just can't seem to pass Anatomy or I'd be going back myself! For those of you who drive to Galen and back to Tampa, how far of a drive is that? My van is also on it's last legs lol. Can you take A&P at Galen or no? Since most hospitals will only hire 4 yr. RN's, I suppose it's kind of pointless to do the LPN bridge program for me huh?

Hi i saw your post about nur 280. I am looking at the same materials but i keep hearing about this quizlet site, what do i need to look at there? please help

What is the thing on quizlet?
