I bought barons anatomy and physiology and nclex-pn really easy the summe before starting school. I truly believe that the A+P book is vital to read before stating so when a system is covered in class you are ready for it. I also think that if you read any anatomy book before class it readys you for fundementals and phamocolgy.

Good luck

I wish someone had told me to buy a NCLEX Review for PNs at start of program & read/study the corresponding chapters to the classroom assignments or textbook.

Specializes in Home Health, PDN, LTC, subacute.

Yes! Any NCLEX-PN review book is great for studying peds, OB, med-surg. I also used mine for review for all of our finals.

A great cheap little book I got was Maternal/Neonatal facts Made Incredibly Quick. This little book had all the essential facts for OB and I could take it with me to clinical. It was well worth the $20 since I got an A in maternity nursing.

Just a suggestion.

I 2nd that on the A&P book. I had to drop A&P I during the Spring (LONG story), but will be taking it again this fall. I believe that it is THE hardest pre-req class ever. UGH. I stayed in as long as I could until the cut off for getting a "W" instead of failing grade just so I could learn as much and understand it better the 2nd time around. I'm actually EXCITED about starting it this fall because I feel like I know what I'm going into and I have my book to be reading NOW. Plus, A&P goes so fast. You have to cram so much info in such a short amount of time.

Hi -

One thing that really helped me through PN school was the Medical-Terminology class that they offered us in the first term. It made figuring some of the unfamiliar terms I came across later pretty easy. You may be able to find a med terminology site online as well. Good luck in school!!

Wow this is really good advice for me as well. Right now, I'm just trying to focus on passing the nurse entrance test. Everyone tells me that it will be easy... And I really need to brush up on my A&P, since its been a while since I had it. My program starts this october.
