Thanks to all the other well wishers. Some other aspects of my life have recently given me a lot of emotional pain, then this letter of acceptance comes along, and it gives me a big light in my life now.

Congratulations on your wonderful grades, Tonicareer. They should take that into consideration with your entrance. Do good grades add points to your performance on the entrance exam? They did that with ours, so they took grades from my university transcript BACK IN 1974, which added about 5 points. That is what got me in, surely. They may have also checked out the current grades with Nutrition and Anat/physio. Have you checked into all nursing schools within a driving distance to your home? There may be another program in your general area that is not as stringent with the entrance test. I know there are about three in my own area which I was going to consider if I was refused from the one to which I applied. Good luck, and keep on working for what you want.

Here in Indiana it is difficult to get into LPN school. One statewide CC and it is not cheap compared to other places. Too many competitors. It is who you know not what you know. I cannot get financial aid because I have a degree already. I cannot afford a private school or to move out of state either. Indiana is so behind other states in higher education it is ridiculous.

I'm so happy. Got in to the xtreeemely competitive LPN program in our community, at the local Jr. College. I was only an ALTERNATE, too. Not bad for a 51 yr old, huh! The 2 prerequisite courses I needed (Nursing Nutrition & Anat/Physiology) were very difficult, but the other old guy in the class and I made the only A's. Them youngin's just couldn't keep up! I am elated. Got all my supplies today. Now that's what I call FUN! The advisors, students, teachers have advised me to continue on for the RN. I feel content with finishing the LPN program first and last while having time for my art. Would like to mix creative arts and nursing, but not "ART THERAPY," but Art for art's sake and nursing for the helping part. (as well as this cool white outfit) :)

:balloons: best wishes to you..... I just finished the lpn and passed the nclex after being out of school (lets just say a long time).....I was worried at first---but did well. I know that you will do great.....

Get ready the next year will go by fast, and remember on those late nights of studying,,,,the end is just around the corner...

Toni-career, what about CNA work? That way you could meet some of those "not what you know, it's who you know" people for your future in nursing? They may end up sponsoring you for nursing school? I was thinking about other fields too, relating to the health/science, even enrolling in hours towards becoming a Physician's Assistant. If you knock off a course here & there, it looks good, & since you are academically inclined, you'll do well in subject. I am sure you have investigated many possibilities in your area. There was even a Phlebotomy two-day class here I was going to take, to get qualified to do that, and there are just so many medical-related fields. Don't give up, and don't say, "can't."

Last semester was so packed full, with the two nursing-related courses and also art/education classes. Was going to take Anat. pt.2 this summer, but decided to have a break until Aug. 20, when the program starts. It's wierd, but the abrupt halting of studies, plus my teens are out of town, and the ending of my 4 1/2 year relationship :crying2: , have been like slaps in the face. Change is hard, whether it's good or bad. I'm going to keep the academic momentum going by studying one of the texts for Aug. I am a little depressed and very happy at the same time. Ain't the human brain amazing.

I feel the same & had the same competition for entrance..my ??? how old is "old"...I totally relate to you & I'm 34yrs.///I'm very proud of myknowledge @ my AGE...but your post made me really realize it... I was sooooo nervous thinking that I was out of school 'forever" & these young ones will know all the "stuff" Well I showed them......THANKS

Indiana does not allow 2 day Phelebotomy classes. Cna classes are a long wait list and a long drive away. Like I said this state is way behind the times.
