AND I AM TERRIFIED! I am excited also, just very nervous. I will be going to a 14 month accelerated program in VA. I worked as a GNA a few years ago (still certified) but have been a SAHM for the last 2 1/2 years since my daughter was born. I am scared to death to leave her. She will be with my husband, so I know she will be taken care of, it will just be hard for me to be away from her. I DO believe this is the right move for our family, plus a major dream of mine!!!!

I am wondering is there anything I should do now to prepare? I have been brushing up on my medical terminology. I was planning on heading to the library and just want to see what other students have done before hand!

TIA for the help!!!

Congrats to you!! Everything will be ok with your daughter. She's so young that she won't remember any of this when she gets old. I have two children ages 7 and 11. They are old enough that they get frustrated for having to stay at home all the time. I'm so busy with school that we just can't go like we used to plus I no longer have a job so my husband is paying all the bills so we have to be more conscious of how we spend our money.

You can brush up on medical terminolgy, medical abreviations, conversions, and A&P to start. Good luck in school. You'll do fine. I think everybody is nervous when they first start school. It's the fear of the unknown.

Thanks for the reply. I won't be working while in school either, so we will have plenty of time during the day. SHe will just have to get used to daddy putting her to sleep at night!!!

I will definantly take your advice. I haven't been in school in years, and knowing how fast paced this program is I was to go a little prepared (if thats possible..haha!)

Thanks!

last year the same time , i felt the same. Now, i am about to be a LPN in Aug this year.

Your dd is going to be fine, you are doing the right thing for everyon in the family. It's just a year or so, it won' be forever and by the time you are done. You will make it all up and more for her and hubby.

I will say you could try to review the A&P stuff. Terminology isn't that big in the nursing school, you learn it as it goes. Prepare a study area for yourself, a table that you can spread all your study materials without anyone move it or touch it. Find out what is your study style. If you have a ipod or recorder( get it ready for the lecture). Good luck! You will be fine!

Congratulations! Find out which NCLEX study guide your school uses, get one and start reading up on how to answer NCLEX style questions. Hang in there, it will go by really fast!
