Best Shoes for Nursing
I personally think the thickness is most important. Skacter may be stylish and comfort since it is designed to shaped with human feet. But it doesn't provide the cushion effect. The feet and legs are hitting hard on the hard ground, it hurts the knees, the hips and the back. I find my nike air does the best job to ease the weight and force i put on my legs, knees and feet. oh, i am looking at this new snow white one costs $120, bu it is leather type of material, so no need to worry about the stains.

Do you admister oxygen on your floor to a pt complaing of chest pain?
But, morphine uses in chest pain is for pain and dilate the vessel, not really for decreasing the respiration workload. In the matter of fact, morphine's main side effect is respiratory depression. You want your pt to breath, they can't breath regularly because they are in pain. Just my thought.

Do you admister oxygen on your floor to a pt complaing of chest pain?
Chest pain is related to lack of oxgyen to the heart muscle, so what does the heart really need? O2, nitro is to dilate the vessels to increase the blood flow to the heart , blood contains many nutrients and O2 which helps release the suffocated heart muscle. Definitely O2 .

Questions for Nurses with Less than 5 Years of Experience
- i had 15 days training and 2 weeks to wore off my fears to work on my own. -yes, i have trouble balancing my work and my personal life. I work too much, late to get out and blamed for being late home for that. -Hardest part of being new grad. is finding a job, or a decent job. -yes, i think school prepared me on critical thinking, but not enough of real world experiences. - Giving wrong medications to the wrong patients. - nursing isn't a recession proof's job. Nurses can lose their job and get in huge legal trouble anytime anywhere with anyone who wants to put you through such hell. Lose the job, lose the license, no one ever wants to hide you with the bad record. It ony take one persont to life on you. - Be prepare at least 2-3 months to find a decent job, be open minded when look for a job. Smile and listen carefully when you are training at the job, get to know your staff members you wil need their help in future. Best luck!

Need some encouragement
I am so sorry to hear you haivng such a hard time finding a RN's job, it is very discouraging and even despressing. If you haven't shaped up your resume' by someone professional, try that. ( college usually offer free service for that). Anytime, you get an interview, send thank you note, call them see if they need more refereances etc... Try hospital, health center, doctor office, nursing home, rehab. facility even agency. You have to start somewhere to gain the experience. I graduated last August obtained my license-PN in Nov. In Feb, i was hired by a very busy rehab. facility where 20 miles from home. I must say it was tough to find a job very tough esp. being a new grad. I went in person to put in application form one facility to another, i usually went 3-5 places in one day for 3 months. Snow storm didn't stop me from one day. Best luck! I was there and feel for you.

11 Things Your Nurse Thinks (But Will Never Tell You)
Well said it! One thing i want to say to my so called " clients" is " Hey, look, it is not my fault you are here sick and suffering. You were out there smoking, drinking sugary pop, sleep whenever you want, eat whatever you want. Now, if you don't want those medications and treatment just say it out loud "NO". Don't ask me why you have to take so many of those pills and why your blood sugar is so high.

Will long term care experience be the experience enought to get into a hospital

How do I get along with my coworkers? new grad
As i read your post, i feel they have already decided they don't like you no matter what. They are good with them two to cover their own back, do not want you to be part of them. Six months is a long time to work in a place and not getting accepted by your co-workers. It's time to start looking a new place to work?

Reality Shock...
I graduated last August, took my NCLEX-PN in Nov. passed. I started to job hunting around Thanksgiving, applied in person and online to about 50 places. I went as far as 25 miles away from home to apply ( beg) for a job. Two places called back for interview, they didn't want new grad. Finally, Feb this year, i got hired by rehab. facility where 20 miles from home. I was graceful and excited about it. The reality of job hunting is shocking! A nurse can't find a job? Many think i am telling a joke. But it is true, be prepare it for at least 2-3 months before you can land a job as a nurse. Shocking at work, Everday at work is like a race, you have to be fast to get things done on time. 2 hours medication passing, only if you are lucky without getting interrupted by phone calls, incidents, low blood sugar, or upset family members etc... You rarely hearing anything positive about what you have done, always something you didn't do or done incorrectly.
