:eek:Hey everyone. I start school next Tuesday! While I'm EXTREMELY excited, I am also so overwhelmed and so nervous. I got my books today and started to feel like I can't possibly learn all of this in a year! HELP! Anyone else feel this way starting school?

Congratulations on getting accepted to school and discovering you're normal.

I never trust people who walk in super confident and act like they know it all before the classes even start.

Take time for yourself and enjoy what's left of your freedom before you have to hit the books for real!

I felt exactly like that. As a matter of fact, I still feel that way (I start on monday)!!. I think it's normal....Like the OP said, I wouldn't trust anyone who walked in there as if they knew it all otherwise, why would they be in school?? They will teach us everything we need to know...trust me, a few months from now someone will have a question or need help with a care plan and you will be rattling off medical jargon as if it were your first language...and hopefully I will too!!

Good Luck!

Just keep taking one step at a time. Somehow, it all fits after a while. Kind of like learning letters, then to spell words,...and then somehow reading becomes second nature...for my experience, that's about as close to it as I can explain. Just focus on mastering whatever is at hand, the bigger stuff will just fall into place, and you won't really know how, it just does. Good luck, and don't waste your precious energy and time worrrying!

My class graduated LVN school in July. There were some students I thought might quit at first because they were stressed out about the work involved, especially during the first couple of months. It can be overwhelming. There is a lot of work to do before you start clinicals and all that work they throw at you is gearing up to that. What you eventually learn is that you can do the work, even if you spend some nights burning the midnight oil.

Some of the students in class were better than others academically, but the others were sometimes better with patient care. You will do well, just hang in there and take the assignments one step at a time.

We formed groups that helped each other with homework, and test review. Once you start, you will find out who is serious and make friends with people you can work with.

The people here at allnurses are a wonderful resource, use them if you need to....

Good luck!!!!!!

Congrats and I look forward to meeting you next week...;)
