Need help learning A&P

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

So I'm a few weeks into my anatomy and physiology course for my LVN program and my teacher is extremely hard. He failed over half the class last term. So far we have taken 3 tests and I've earned a 85%, 52%, and a 76%. My average grade for the class is a 79%. I'm looking for tips anyone can offer me to help improve and understand the information better. Our next test is on the skeletal system and the muscular system. Our teacher also gives us study guides which I've been using. Does anyone have any good websites or apps? I'm meeting up with a couple of classmates today to study but any help will be great! I still have approximately 10 tests left! My other classes (foundations and nutrition) I'm doing well in with high B's. Thanks!

It's a beautiful day to save lives.

Flash cards and a study group. I agree that some teachers are not as interested interested in seeing us succeed as others. Study groups and constant repetition works well for a&p.

all of the above, esp youtube. And the flash cards- I take them to work with me in my pockets and review even one or two body parts while riding the elevator! I quiz myself while transporting a patient. I picture the body parts and functions while feeding, bathing, etc all the residents; driving I listen to the recorded key words and lectures. IOW, I got a 98% on the endocrine system because I made flash cards and quizzed the gland, hormone, target, action, stimulus over and over and over and over... did I say I made the flash cards and then FLASHED them over and over?

PS another tip: if you have a final exam in a & p (most do) then, occasionally listen to an old lecture or review the old stack of flash cards to keep the brain in tune. You are going to need this info for your entire career, so might as well get the brain used to it now.

Study groups in the morning before class and especially before an exam are what got my class through a&p and pharmacology especially . Each person in the group is going to have a system they get better than others do. So it helps to talk out confusing mechanisms or concepts as a group. The endocrine system to this day is not my friend lol. We also would try to find questions in the material and ask them in the group, there were plenty of times where they showed up almost verbatim in our exam. And just make sure you're not over studying. I saw far too many people fail and say " I studied for 10 hours!" break it up in chunks with some distraction in between, I personally would study for 60-90 minutes and then give myself a 30 minute break and go for a walk or watch some tv or listen to some music.

torttora online offers good assistance.... repetition.... 15 minutes an hour of study time

Please can some body help? I will start lpn class in

december, only 1 month left, i have no clue in nursing

fundamental, a& p and pharmacology

.Please tell me how to prepare before class

During this one month

When all else fails, YOUTUBE it! Lol

I'm currently in the same mode.....After teacher lecture and notes I complete the workbook, which helps me a lot. In my program A/P test are pretty straight forward, no NCLEX type questions. Then after that I go to YOUTUBE and watch video after video.

Not sure if it's my program, it is a lot of info to absorb, but I actual like it and am catching on pretty good.

Hope you find a method that does work better for you. Best of luck!

Nursing school is like nothing else....not really any real prep beside getting organized and having everything in order. You can start reading in advance if you have your book already.

I will also advice you to go on YOUTUBE and check out some video's on preparing for nursing school. One channel I remember off the top of my head is "NURSENICHOLE", she offers some great advice and experiences.

Good luck!

My saving grace was www.khanacademy.org. Seriously go check that site out. The guy who explains everything actually made it so he could tutor his nephew or something over seas. Other people found the website and it went viral. He dumbs everything down and makes it SO much easier to grasp.

Go to Khan Academy it is the best. Our instructor also recommended it and it does really help. There is an app for your phone too.

thank u so much guys

your lucky.... we get 4 A&P test. CHP 1-7. 16-24, then 8-15 then the final in one and half month. What i do is that i just learn how everything works. For example how the muscle contracts. Learn all the steps and definition associated with it, don't know what ACH or SA means well look it up then afterworks learn the definition. As long as I know 70% of the material I can kinda guess the other 30% on a test.
