More options for RN school?

Daemen does not have a 2 year nursing program. they do a 1+2+1 BSN program where you spend your 1st year at Daemen doing pre-reqs (A&P, chemistry, psych, stats, and various other elective courses required by the liberal arts curriculum) then you spend 2 years at a partner school (GCC, ECC, or Trocaire) then you spend your last year at Daemen again finishing up your BSN. I'm in my final semester of this program now. For this program, you have to have passed your boards by the spring semester (your last semester if you follow their curriculum as a full time student) as the classes you will take that semester require licensure. Also, when you return to Daemen for your final semester, you get 50% off your tuition which is nice. I actually went to NCCC through Daemen because at the time Daemen was partnered with NCCC. Unfortunately they are no longer partners and GCC took NCCC's place.

For what it's worth, I went to NCCC and it was really tough but it's an excellent program.

I know Niagara University has a BSN nursing program.

Thanks. I've talked to them about their nursing program. I'm doing LPN now so what exactly is 1+2? Also is there program hard? No more nclex questions right?

It's not too bad. The first year I was there (I was actually there 2 years, I changed my major to nursing my 2nd year) you take all you re reqs and liberal arts type classes like freshman seminar, A&P one and two, chem, stats, psych, holistic nursing (a class that focuses on alternative therapies...and it is required), composition, and mandatory electives. It's enough classes to have a pretty full course load for that year. then you transfer to a partner school (ECC GCC or trocaire) and follow their nursing curriculum (Daemen may require you to take extra electives at your partner school to meet the number of credits required for their BSN program. I did not have to because most of the courses I took the first year at Daemen counted as electives. after you graduate from your ADN program, you usually take the boards over the summer (you have to pass before your final semester at Daemen) and then you go back to daemen and finish up. The classes for the last year at Daemen are a lot of research based classes. there is a lot of paper writing and online work, but there is no more cinicals (you still have "clinicals" but there is no patient care involved. you shadow nurse managers and quality improvement nurses) and no, there are no more NCLEX questions since it is expected that you pass the boards by the spring =] . You will take pathophysiology in your final year at daemen, and that was the hardest class i've had since i've been back. other than that the classes are more time consuming and annoying than they are difficult.

Just wanted to say I'm in the LPN program at Trocaire too! Are you in 106/107 now? I just started this semester.

Really? That's awesome. I'm supposed to be in 106 and 107. I couldn't pass 105 so I'm repeating. How did you make it out of that class?
