Hi I am a medical assistant student but about to graduate in September of this year. But now I'm trying to find a LPN program in Indiana or Illinois somebody please help me!!!!!!!!! N plus doesn't it matter that my diploma is in Indiana to get into a Illinois program

You cannot transfer into an LPN program with your current MA classes because they ARE NOT the same thing. I think their is a huge misconception in the training and education that goes into a nursing program versus a program to be a medical assistant. You cannot just switch into it. I'm sorry that you were misinformed. If you want to be a nurse you will have to check with your desired school to see what the admission process is. It may only be an entrance exam such as TEAS- or it may be prerequisites such as A&P 1 and 2, Chem, Algebra,English and also TEAS. The good news is most LPN programs start a few times a year so you might be able to start with an upcoming cohort in a reasonable amount of time.

I think your best bet is going to be to research this on your own since we are really a networking site. I just searched for accredited LPN programs in Indiana and got this list back. It may not be complete but the idea is to get a jumping off point for good, solid information. You could start with that list and contact them to see what you need to do. The same idea for Illinois would apply.

Your state Board of Nursing for Indiana and Illinois are likely a good source of information as well.

Once you find a few you are interested in, you can start asking people for advice specific to each school. We have sections of allnurses for each state as well. Many schools, such as Ivy Tech, are talked about here quite frequently! Good luck on your goal of starting an LPN program! :up:

Possibly, that all depends on the school. Private schools are costly, but they don't usually require prerequisite classes for admission. But you will almost certainly need to take the TEAS V. State schools usually require the mentioned prerequisites PLUS the TEAS V. The cost is usually lower for a state school but when you add up the classes you need beforehand it's usually a wash.

Do you have any of the college credits that I mentioned? If so, a state LPN program might be the right fit. Keep in mind that science credits expire within 5 years of taking them.

It would be wise to finish up your MA program considering it's completion is right around the corner. Get into your field and make some money! If your still interested in becoming a nurse make the move in that direction. There's absolutely zero shame in taking baby steps. You'll find that many nurses on this forum have started as an MA

Or a CNA and progressively moved on to become nurses with very impressive nursing careers;)
