The appropriate name is MA or medical assistant not Medical. I was anticipating a whole different line of questions. I'm very confused about your last statement can you further clarify it?

Congrats on finishing MA school:up:, you can go online and search for your state accredited programs. Good luck.

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.

title edited for clarity.

Does it matter if I have my diploma from Indiana and I want to go to school in Indiana or Illinois. What are some good schools?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

No because a MA diploma isn't like a nursing license endorsed between states nor is MA a pre-req for nursing school. MA is generally geared towards the medical model and front/back office operations for a physician office or clinic.

Check the state board of nursing for approved schools also most have the NCLEX pass rates listed for each school

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I completed a medical assistant program back in 2000. When I enrolled in a practical nursing (LPN) program in 2004, I received no credit for my MA training.

As the previous poster mentioned, the MA program follows the medical model of care provision, whereas the LPN program is a part of the nursing model of care. While some procedural skills overlap, the two types of training are like apples and oranges.

Really omg because I really don't wanna start the whole MA program all over. What should I do?

Of you want to become a nurse, then go for the LPN; like previous posters explained; it is a different theory model; in addition, there are far more other skill sets with becoming a LPN-learning the nursing process, aka "thinking like a nurse" is one of the main skill sets that nurses have; it provides an autonomy and judgement call in order to best provide for our patients.

Okay what school should I go to in Illinois or Indiana? Because like I said I don't want to start the whole program over

You are going to "start over again"; again, to my knowledge, MA school

has no crossover value to PN school; contact the Indiana and Illinois Board of Nursing for Board approved , accredited programs in your area.

Best wishes.

OMG seriously okay thanks

I'm curious why you'd want to throw away the time you've put into your MA program if your finishing it up in a few months? Surely it was expensive? Why the drastic change of heart? Unless your asking if you can transfer over from MA to LPN, which is not possible being that they are not the same.
