Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Is anyone else tired of hearing about this as I am? I am so tired of someone saying, "why are you going to LVN school, when they are phasing them out?"

I see them all over the federal government. In VA Hospitals, Military Hospitals and the like. The RN factories cannot keep up with the demand right now. The new healthcare laws will make it an economic necessity to staff facilities with LPNs. They can perform any task a RN can perform. Performing intakes and assessments are but a small fraction of a nurses time on the floor. Hands on staffing is what we need and LPNs are vital in performing those hands-on duties.

My professor for Intro to Nursing who has been an RN for 30+ years said that the rumor of phasing out LPN's have always been around and they haven't got rid of them yet because they are needed. She said don't worry about that just keep going-and that is exactly what I plan on doing!!!!!!!
