LPN programs in Virginia

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hello everyone

I'm looking for any information on LPN programs in Va. I've googled alot and talked to some RNs that I work with but I'd like to hear from some current or past students.

What programs are good?

Accreditation?

Where you went for clinicals?

How hard/easy/helpful/independent did you find the program to be?

Did they prepare you for how work would be after school?

How did you manage classes with work/family life?

Did you find a job afterwards?

Did the school help you with finding that job?

Are you looking at doing LPN-RN bridge? If so where? Are you having any problems with that b/c of where you did your LPN schooling?

Are there any unexpected requirements for the LPN program?

Please feel free to post back, message me directly, or email me at [email protected]. Thank you!!!

Accreditation? Yes NLNAC

Where you went for clinicals? n/A

How hard/easy/helpful/independent did you find the program to be? If you don't study it will be hard

Did they prepare you for how work would be after school? n/a

How did you manage classes with work/family life? I am still in the beginning stages of the program but I try to spend as much time with my husband and child as possible. When I need to study I close myself off in a room and do that. But there is a lot of studying it is a very rigorous 12 month program.

Did you find a job afterwards?

Did the school help you with finding that job? n/a

Are you looking at doing LPN-RN bridge? If so where? Are you having any problems with that b/c of where you did your LPN schooling? I think I am doing my LPN to RN bridge there but the only problem is that they aren't accredited for the RN program so you have to pay out of pocket.

Are there any unexpected requirements for the LPN program? None so far.

there is a LPN program at the TCW HIgh School in Alexandria VA, registration begins in January, they are starting their 2010-2011 classes already. Good program, very reasonable tuition, second year is hardest, strictest.

You can find a list of the approved LPN programs and NCLEX pass rates on the Virginia Board of Nursing website at Virginia Board of Nursing Education Programs.

Several of the community colleges in Virginia have LPN-RN programs. Credit from community colleges will transfer best to other community college programs. Work completed at proprietary schools, high schools, vocational schools, etc will likely not earn transferable credit.
