Hello, Everybody!

I just wanted to introduce myself to the board as I've been an avid lurker for several weeks now.

My name is Becky, I'm 27 years old & I'm pretty darn sure that I want to be an LPN when I grow up!

I start my CNA classes on Monday & I have two small children & a husband I love so much.

It's gonna be a slow ride for me but I am so excited to start it & I just wanted to applaud all of you for being such incredible role models for me to follow! I can't WAIT to be a CNA! I can't WAIT to be an LPN!

Becky: Don't worry about slow. It took me 8 years from my first class until I received my ASN. In between those times, I went through an LPN program and graduated and during my LPN classes I took the CNA exam and worked as a CNA while I was in LPN school. I applaud you for figuring our what you want and going for it. Keep that passion and you'll do fine!!!!

Specializes in Knuckle Dragging Nurse aka MTA.

You have the right attitude for this feild. You will do great!! I was amazed at the drive I saw in my LVN classmates. People would work all night on graveyard shift and show up for class and clinicals in the morning. Many balanced kids, family, work, and school in ways I don't think I could. To see people working fulltime, going to school fulltime, and meeting their family comittments was inspiring to say the least.

I was a CNA 4 years before I decided to become an LVN, and becoming one was the best choice I could of made.

Specializes in Licensed Practical Nurse.

Welcome to the world of nursing from the ground up. After you finish taking the certification exam for CNA, assess your academic skills, such as math, essay writing, etc so that you can work on that before you apply for nursing school. Like others said, take your time. Most nursing schools have an entrance exam, or the NLN test, and since it is competitive, ensure that you are at the best advantage by studying a bit in advance for the type of questions they may ask you. Your enthusiam is great, so you should do well! Best of luck!
