I am in my last 4 1/2 months of school out of a 20 month program.

due to the drama in my life.. spouse leaving, losing job, losing house, depression, etc.

I really don't feel like I even want to finish school.

I don't really want to be a nurse any more.

Whats the point now?

My friends and classmates keep telling me to stick with it, and I should have it easier since I'm not working now.. But Honestly when I was working full time while going to school, I did way better.

I don't even read my chapters now and I barely pass tests.

I have assignments from months ago that are due next week I haven't even touched..

And even when I finish, I still need to get my IV certification after/if I receive my license.. which puts me getting a LVN job (in acute care) to around this time next year.

Don't get me wrong, I love taking care of people which is why I decided to go into nursing in the first place.. also my wife kinda pointed me in the direction. And I get along with my patients very well.

Can someone offer words of advice? or share similar feelings?

Anyway I need to get ready for school..

feel free to ask any questions

We are in a very similar situation. You are almost there! Don't you think you will get a huge feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction when you make it through. I keep telling myslef what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. I have felt like quitting bc I am lacking motivation too but I know the depression and regret would be worse. Try to keep your head up..sounds to me like you have put in way too much time and effort to give up now!

Don't lose sight on your goal. Its tough for a lot of people in my class, including myself, juggling school work, clinical, home life, and work. But it will all be worth it in the end. You'll be able to support yourself and be able to affect the lives of so many people.

I may sound cliche here.... with everything you've lost recently, wouldn't it be great to have something that is totally "yours" that no one can claim but you?

You can do this!

I am so sorry for all that you are going through but have to agree with the previous posters. You are so close to finishing your program and what happens in your life only makes you stronger. Think about all the pt's that you may encounter who are going through what you are...you will have the ability to understand and empathize with them. Do not give up on your dream! Turn this into a positive and finish what you started! When you graduate you can look back and think I did it and NO ONE can take that away from you!

Take care and wish you the best in your decision.

Thx for the replies everyone.

I've had tons of support from friends and classmates.

I've found my motivation to continue and go further in my education =)
