I went to the local Vo-Tech and took the following classes:

Fundamentals of Nursing, Anatomy And Physiology, Working Relationships, Personal and Community Health, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Gerontology, Nutrition, Medical/Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Obstetrical Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing.

Along with those classes we also had a total of 1,093 clinical hours, got our certs in IV, Phleb and Pharmacology. It was an awesome program to say the least! Hope that info helped some, just one question...why did you ask?

What classes did you take while in school for LPN.

Thanks. I asked because as you can see my Vo-Tech has 3 med-Surg classes, and everywhere else I see only has one or two. It seems like we have a lot of classes that I don't see anywhere else.

You will definately be thankful for those 'extra' classes once you get out of school! Even though my school only had Med/surg listed as one class it could have easily been broken down into three! If you don't mind me asking, when did you start classes and how long is the program? My classes were full-time for one year. During the winter months we were to be at our clinical sites by 6:45am, back to school by 1pm and then stayed until 7pm at night! It was rough, but WELL worth it!

So far I've taken CIS 111, ENG 111 and PSY 150. Right now I'm just taking BIO 165....which I'll more than likely be taking over. :crying2:

I also have to take one math class.

Thanks everyone.

I have been quoted different times, but I think it would most likely be 18 months. And the class is Mon-Fri 8a-3p, except for clinicals days which are from 7a-3p. It really seems like a long time. But since they do work through the summer, I should be done by the end of 2006.

Okay now that I look it seems as though we have so many more classes, than other schools. I wonder why.

Specializes in Geriatric/LTC, Rehab, Home Hhealth.

I started out for RN so I took all those pre-req.s then ended up jumping into the LPN clinicals but I'll say this - as you go through as you start to get a lot of those classes behind you, you are going to feel SO GREAT (and tired, of course) but it will be worth it in the end. Try to get a feel for who you can lean on in your class. My LPN class was great...we leaned on eachother, stuck together and as time went on got really close. We weren't required to take the medical terminology class but I had a light semester early on so I took it and was glad for it...that one really helps you find your way around! Best Wishes to you!
