We live in Massachusetts and LPN's are still doing well here, too. When my mom was sick with diverticulitis the LPN did everything and the RN came in once for the paperwork. I'd rather care for patients more than paperwork.
Do some research before you decide. Figure out where you want to end up working. You live in MA and, in all honestly, LPNs are having a tough time getting jobs in hospitals. You may see a hospital has LPNs on staff, but ask if they are hiring any new LPNs. If you want to work in an ambulatory setting, it may be easier to find a job as an LPN.

Yeah. That was just an example. But, I really don't have the desire to work in a hospital. I'd rather work in a small doctors office, or even a nursing home. I think I'm going to go through with applying to the lpn program.

Just be aware that many physicians offices don't hire nurses they hire unlicensed medical assistants to reduce costs.

I've heard that too. I know some people are very specific about where they want to work. But I would be perfectly fine if I could only get a job in a nursing home.

Sadly my office moved from LPNs to MAs despite my tooth and nails fight.
