I am an LVN who lives and works in Fort Worth, TX. My workplace is actually a clinical site where the Concorde VN students complete their clinical rotations and practicum. I never attended Concorde, but I did attend a school in Southern California that is similar to Concorde: expensive and fast-track.

In the Dallas metro area, nursing homes and long term cae facilities pay significantly more money than hospitals. The major hospitals pay LVNs an average of $13.50 hourly to work med-surg, and JPS Hospital starts at $12.50 hourly. Nursing homes start new grads at between $18 and $21 hourly. The job market for LVNs is rather strong here, especially for rehab care centers.

I graduated there over a year ago and have mixed feelings over the place. I think I received a good education and had good quality instructors for the most part. On the downside the school is a private "career college" that functions more like a business less like a place of academics. It was very expensive but I do not regret the decision of going there. Do your research and compare it to community college's LVN and RN programs before you make your mind up.

Ask to buy the NET study guide, it has all the kinds of math problems on the test for you to study.

As a new grad I made $18.25/hr in a nursing home in Fort Worth.
