Has anyone take the Pax rn test from the national league of nurses? I am trying to get into to galen. whats stopping me is this test i fear..any tips..hard or easy? thanks!

I am wondering about the PAX-RN as well for entrance into Galen.

I wish there were a free study guide online, like there is for the NET.

Any advice would be great! :)

hi there! i haven't taken it yet, but am scheduled to in two weeks!

i am getting very nervous about this test...i don't have anyone that i can ask about it as my college just started giving this test!

Jenniferasch.. did you take the PAX for Galen and get it? Which Galen? Sduncan86.. did you take it?

I am going to take it and I am studying this book like.. there is no way I think I will pass it is HARD!

Hi there...I did take it...and let me tell you, I am not trying to scare you, but I was very disappointed.

My college, which is not Galen, just started the test...I personally think it is a waste [sorry to offend anyone!]

I tested and passed the math & science, but failed the vocab part...it was really hard...alot of people at my school have complained to the Dept-I went to the top-to the President!

He actually responded back and said that they are looking into my concern...I think that the reason my college decided to do it is b/c there wait list is so long...I think that they are trying to weed the bad seeds out-which is not fair-I AM NOT A BAD SEED! I study hard to get the grades I have on top of working a fulltime job and having a family. They are just trying to see who can handle it-I say no way...this test proves nothing...it can not tell who is going to stay in thru the whole program and who is not...but that is my college...yours is hopefully different!

I am fighting back!

Hi there, thanks so much for responding! Wow, that sucks! I COMPLETELY agree with you with regard to the difficulty of the exam! This study book and pre tests and CRAZY hard and I highly doubt I will pass and get in! The school I am trying to get into: Galen.. just started it as well, I think the reason they chose this difficult test is just like you said.. to make sure they will achieve HIGH stats on the NCLEX.. but this test is ridiculous! It wouldn't be so bad if the test was based on Nursing process and things of that sort.. like the NCLEX-PN, but this is just horrible! I hope your school bans the test! I hope mine does too! :)

In the meantime I am studying like a crazy person, working full time as an LVN and raising 2 great kids.. I hope I pass, but if not.. I'll either re take it in 60 days (that is what my school offers) or try a different school.

i am hoping that they do SOMETHING! i mean...this test was crazy! how can you decide if someone is going to be a good nurse based on a test that has nothing to do w/nursing itself? you just can't...and you are still going to have people that drop out and fail after they have took the test b/c they can not handle the stress...

so i am waiting...time will tell-my school has a 100% pass rate so why they started the test, i have no idea!

when do you take your test?

i understand...i am a full time worker with a family of 3 kids and a husband...and 2 dogs-so my life is super hectic!

I take my test 5/15 in Texas, so we will see how it goes, I continue to study the CD with the pre tests, should I focus more on the content in each chapter?

i studied both...very hard...and then come to the test and it was NOTHING like the questions that i practiced-

from the book or CD...

i was just told to study what was in the book...thing is my college recommended that we have our Comp's, Bio 101, Chem 101 and Math [int Alg] out of the way before we test...i get the book and there is physics and a & p I in it!

at my college you don't have to have physics to be a nurse! also, a & p we do have to have but it was not recommended for the test...my science portion was 90% physics :[

i wish you the best of luck! i still haven't heard anything back! i keep pushing...regardless, i am set to go to another college this fall if they don't budge...

also, does your state require you to be state tested nursing aide certified? i just graduated from that class w/a 99.9%! and they say i am not nursing material!

yeah...i am pretty upset over that...i just passed my stna class [nursing asst] class w/a 99.9%! that alone has to show for something!

also, i am from the us and english is my language and i still didn't pass that part! the thing that makes me mad is i have a friend who took the test the same day and she passed...she got in, i didn't...but she just took an a & p test here last week and got an f on it! how fair is that? not fair at all! i know we all have our bad days, but this test isn't proving anything...sorry for those who think it does!

i know nursing is a high demand-high stress job...i know that...but sorry guys-this test isn't going to prove who can make it and who can't!

so lucy...if you don't mind me asking, are you in a nursing position now?
