I will begin lpn classes on Monday and I am freaking out.:bluecry1: I am anxious about the test that will be given in a week after the first class. I have been studying online to get a jump start on both biology and chemistry and drug calculations. but am very nervous. Can anyone give me advice on being a successful lpn student. I guess I am worried that even after studying and knowing the material i may freeze during a test, fail and get kicked out of the lpn program. I heard my program only allows two chances. and people have been kicked out a week before graduation. It is not my first time in school it is for lpn school. I once had a teacher who told us not to use the text and gave lots of hand outs but then when she would test, most of the material was not even on the handouts that I would study. i really knew the material but still did very poorly. her exam questions were very hard to understand and lots of students complained to each other becuase she did not allow students to ask her for help. what if lpn school is like that? any advice to calm my nerves would be appreciated.

I am in the same boat as you. I start next Thursday and am freaking out. I want this so bad but am so afraid it is going to be too much or once I get a bad test grade thats the start of disaster. I have homework assigned for the first day and I only started half. I am just so excited and nervous for this I have no idea what to expect!

That is thing. I really want to become a nurse. I tried so hard for the entrance exam and then the interview to finally make it in. hopefully once we overcome these jitters and pass lpn school we can look back and say " I was nervous for nothing, I finally made it yeay!"

Ok breathe....lol. I just went through the lpn program and today was my exit exam, which i passed so i am on to the nclex-pn..first off they know that you dont know anything about nursing, second they will give you everything you need to study. Do not freak out in the first semester you'll be doing mostly foundations of nursing and a&p also some nutrition and medical terminalogy. The worst thing you can do is over freak and over think...you guys will be fine, i came from a travel agent background and i thought it was good, dont play around though because youwill get behind..just study,be serious and work hard and you should be fine. God bless

Form a study group and study together everyday! Also, what I do is first read the summary of the chapter, then I read the objectives of the chapter. As I read, I answer the objectives and form my notes. When I get to class, I found that I am not lost and actually know what is being said. Another tip is to not just learn the information, own it! If you are able to teach it to someone else (that is what a study group is for) then you know got the material. Also, if the instructor will tell you, ask if the test is from a test bank or if the test is hand written by the instructor. This will also give you a better idea on how to study....lecture notes and book notes or just primarily lecture material.

I am in my third week of class and have a test on Monday that must be passed with 75% or better, I was freaking out because I do not want to be dropped for low test grades, but then the instructor told us what I just stated in the above paragraph. All in all, do not fall behind in your reading and just relax.

Good luck!

Calm down and don't freak out!! I just got through my second week of NS and it is tough. But it is not impossible. It goes very FAST! We have had test almost every day. I have passed all of them so far but I don't want to speak too soon.

As for studyn my teacher gives us powerpoints and I study straight from them. If I have a question about something or need a better explanation I will refer back to the book. It is not as hard as I anticipated. I know it will get harder though.

I can say that this has to be something that you want to do. You have to have a passion for nursing. The day you start school your personal life ends. For some people it doesn't and it causes them to do bad on test and end up failing or getting kicked out of school. Once you get started you will know how often you need to study and you may can have a life but each person is different.

Another helpful tip is to study ahead because if your teacher is like mine you can have a quiz on something before you even began the lesson! Cramming isn't good either so try to study a little everyday and this will help before test so you won't have so much to study the night before.

Good Luck to everyone and STUDY HARD!! You will be a Nurse before you know it.:nurse:
