I am new here so forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place.

I am looking at starting DNI LVN part-time evening program on April 10, 2017. I was wanting some recent feedback from current students as to what to expect. Anyone else plan on stating this same class?

Welcome! We moved your thread to our LPN/LVN Student forum. Good luck to you.

I'm also wanting to start April 10. Hopefully I get in!

I am in my last term now. I am in the evening program (Tues 5-10pm, Thurs 5-10pm, Sat 6:45am-7:15pm).

It has definately been a roller coaster with this school, I failed my first semester by one point. So I retook that class, and identified what the problem was, and it was me.

My advice is to read chapters before you go to class. So that you do not get behind.

And as far as clinical wise for the evening program, we have been recently at the school most of the time. And I have no idea why. They are shortage of staff, its very irritating to the evening program students that dont get the hands on experience like the day class does. They have better opportunities. If you can go to days I would recommend, going to a community college. Im just ready to graduate. I will never look back.

Good luck and congratulations on making it to your last term!

Thank you for your feedback.

Thank You! I have completed the lvn program at DNI. Graduation is saturday july 29! I am awaiting for approval from the BON to take my boards!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so exciting!! I would love to know how you do on boards, please keep me posted!!

I just finished my first term. It was not as difficult as I expected. I have a feeling that the next term will be a challenge; Med Surg I & Pharm. Any tips to make it through?

Again, congratulations!! I don't even know you and I am excited for you!! That's a big deal!!

I would suggest on practicing your math everyday. and I had Mr. Michael as a teacher, he was AMAZING!! but, if you dont have him as a teacher make sure you understand the way they teach the math. Read your chapters before class! and I had Mrs. Heather as a teacher for MS1, Just read your chapters, she is by the book! not sure if you are days or evenings. But evenings we always got the teachers that did not want to teach nights. Its very irritating at times, and especially when it came to clinicals. But, positive attitude throughout the whole thing. I use to question myself, am I really smart enough to do this? But, look where I am now. So you got this. I also wish they taught you how to utilize your NCLEX comprehensive content review book (Saunders, Kaplan, HESI, Lipincott) these you can check out in the library, I strongly suggest buying one or checking it out throughout the program. Because if you read the schools textbook, they dont always make sense when breaking down material. So, I learned this in the last semester. for example; if you are going over the chapter say Musculoskeletal system and the diseases and you read your chapter. Then in your comprehensive book itll have that system and a breakdown of important nclex tips and its also shortened. Not only will this be a perk for you when preparing for NCLEX but also you do alot better on your tests. and when they say take Kaplan serious and do like 150 Qs. I would strongly suggest to do your questions over the chapters you are learning. That also helps with tests and also there are 3 resources you used not just the same one. You will notice how they correlate together. Taught this myself, and I think thats why I passed the exit the 1st time. do it everyday, and yes sometimes there will be times you wont want too. which is OKAY, give your self a break! you need it. Be confident also. Remember prepare yourself for NCLEX early I never did, because noone really showed me how to utilize those books when and only I got to the last rerm and was like I can not study just from this text or also go back and study everything that is way to much. If you start now, you will be able to remember so much because you used more than one resource. I hope that helps, and please pass on the good advice, its really great to see everyone succeed for those that struggle with tests, which I do!
