Advice from fellow Kinesthetic learners

Like the title says, just looking for study tips as far what you guys do for studying. I do great in the lab/clinical pass offs, but struggle a little when i sit down and try to plow through chapter after chapter of pharm/fundies/ and mental health. I love the subjects, they are very interesting to me but come test time, i'm like a deer in the headlights.

I hear you there! I need to get my hands on things to get a feel for how to do them; I never really could get it just by looking at a diagram, and if someone tries to instruct me verbally I'm totally lost.

The only advice I can give you is to break up your reading assignments into short sessions, rather than try to absorb it all at once. Time yourself: 15 minutes of reading, then 15 minutes of thinking over the concepts presented and trying to visualize them in your mind's eye. Write them down as they come to you, and read aloud if that helps (it did me). Then take a break---get up, walk around, get yourself something to eat/drink---and repeat the process. It's easier to do this with the hands-on skills, but even tricky concepts can be mastered if you use your imagination to visualize them as you read the assignment.

I'm the same way. I have found that study groups for these subjects work best for me and I take on more of a "teacher" role. I find they if I'm teaching someone else the concepts it actually helps me learn. For the anatomy stuff I found YouTube videos to be a god send. I read all about how the heart works in a book but it was not until I found a YouTube video that actually broke it down that it clicked.

When studying, I would review the nursing process in terms of the subject, so I could correlate the material and in terms of nursing.

What helped me is using review questions, where I can visualize the scenario in order to choose the best answer.
