Want to get my BSN or MSN

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I have been an LPN for over 30 years. I retired after my youngest was born as I was horribly burned out. I have been working as a home birth midwife since. (CPM) I have tried several times to get into an LPN to RN program, only to get transferred (USAF) or have to work full time because my husband was unemployed. I also tried to do a 2 year RN to make it easier to find a program, and they turned me down because I was "too experienced" and already had an Associates in Life Science. Whats a girl to do?

Are there any experienced LPN to RN programs left? Preferably online? I have close to a Bachelors degree already (a few credits short) but my Science is over 10 years old. I do not want to have to repeat it again. I feel stuck. And there are few experienced LPN jobs where I am anyway. I need to go back to work.

Specializes in Med/Surg, LTACH, LTC, Home Health.

Almost every institution requires you to repeat those sciences if they are greater than 5 years old. I had to take them back in 2010 even in my online bridge program (Excelsior College). I don't think there is anyway around that. If there is such an institution, be sure to look very closely at its accreditation. Good luck.
