Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi, I have had my LPN license for 2.5 years, but have never worked as an LPN. I currently work full-time in a non-nursing position with full benefits, which I cannot give up as I carry the health insurance for my entire family. I would like to pick up some part-time LPN work, the problem is most positions I have applied for require 12 hour shifts, being available every weekend, etc. I really need a refresher course to update my LPN skills. Any suggestions on this?? Thanks! I look forward to hearing back from you!

Have you looked into in-home private duty cases?

Companies that offer private duty cases are typically willing to offer extensive training if they know you have no experience. This might be a great way to get your feet wet and ease into nursing, especially since you'll only be dealing with one patient at a time.

I had not even thought of private duty, but that is something to think about. I did apply with a home care nursing company, but they would not consider me because I don't have the experience.
