Renewing CPR certification

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello! I received my CPR certification almost two years ago. I thought I would have passed boards by now but I have not. Scheduling them for a second time at the end of this Month...how do I go about renewing my certification without being a nurse yet?!

Thanks

You do not need to be a nurse to get certified in healthcare professional CPR.

Yes I know..but I'm wondering how to renew it..I got my certification through nursing school

Go to the American heart association website. They have a class finder. Most hospitals are AHA training centers and offer CPR training to the public for a fee.

This exactly. I needed an HP CPR class fast for my school application requirements. I went on the AHA website, found a class offered 15 mins away from me for the next day. It cost me $65.00. Good class too.

The AHA website is a great resource for finding classes and/or instructors that can do the class. Just remember that you're looking for the Healthcare Provider level CPR. There's usually an online course option, but they require that you pass a skills verification in order to complete the course and it's a little bit more expensive than the traditional classroom method. Just for the record, I've not done that particular method. I've been HCP-level trained since around 1992, if memory serves. Sometimes I've used ARC, usually I do AHA because the cert's good for 2 years. ARC's HCP cert may now be 2 years, but I'm not sure of that. I hope you're able to find a course that meets your needs quickly!
