Question about CPR card....

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello everyone, I'm a new LPN nurse :nurse: (just got my license in the mail on Friday). I have applied for a couple of jobs and on one application, it asked if I can show prove of being BLS certified. I checked yes but when I came home, I could not find my CPR card. I still have 13 months before I have to renew it. Does that mean that I have to take the course all over again or is there some number I can call and they can provide a duplicate? If someone knows, please let me know. Thanks.

I would imagine that you would call whoever you took the course from (AHA, Red Cross to name a few) and ask them if they can provide you with another card. Whatever agency offered the course would have record of your attendance and certification.

Thanks Kymmi, the course was given at the school I attended by an instructor whom is no longer with the school. She left shortly after giving the course.

Ok..but you could still contact the school and see if they have record of it or they should be able to tell you what agency the instructor taught thru (Red Cross, American Heart Assoc. ) and you could contact that agency. Someone other than that instructor has to have record of you taking/passing the course.

I called my old school last week and they told me that they had a copy of my card and I could pick it up. I'm so relieved and I was stressed for no reason. Thanks Kymmi for your replies.:)

Most facilities require that you take the BLS course yearly, not every two years. You may want to check their specific requirements as you will be coming close to the one year time of it.

Hi Suzanne, looking at the copy of my card it says valid from March 2007 until March 2009 and it's a card for BLS for healthcare providers. So I think I'm good for another year. I'll check with them when I pick up the hard copy on Tuesday. Also I'm in Alabama so that may be the reason it's for two years. Thanks. T
