protocol for transferring license to canada

by clutter

I have been an LPN for 20 years and my adventures are takeing me to canada. What is the protocol for becoming a nurse in Canada and what governing body do I contact? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Depends on which province you are moving to.

We don't have Board of Nursing, up here its the College of Licensed Practical Nurses (CLPN for short). Each province has one. I believe the main site is clpn.com or .ca. They have a referral page to the appropriate province, ie: clpna.com (for Alberta), cllpnbc.org, etc.

Each province has its list of schools that they will accept education from, but you have to submit transcripts, etc. and a couple of hundred dollars for the education assessment.

Hope this is some help.
