Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Well,I am LVN ( a new still green). I got in trouble. My husband & I went out to eat & I had 2 margaritas. On a way back I was driving along small country road, I did not see the woman & I hit her(it was right at dusk). She is ok, she has just a bruise. I done everyng I should do( I stoped & took care of her) but I am going to be convicted with intoxicatsd assault with vehicle because my alcohol level was over 0.08.

I LOVE my job and it breaks my heart that I may lose my nursing lisense.

Does anyone know if I get convicted with felony(I was told that I may be convicted with felony) will I loose my nursing lisence? And do I need to notify my DON & State Board?

I was told that I am a very good nurse but now I look like a drinker and alcoholic to people who does not know me; it kills me....

i am sorry about what happened, but:

two questions we commonly encounter about the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure are:

  • is possible to become a licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?
  • what happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?

these are questions that can not be answered by the membership of allnurses. the only reliable source of information is your state board of nursing.

i would suggest reading this post:
