Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi everyone, just wanted to come on here and share my good news. I recently moved to Hawaii and prior to moving applied for some jobs. I immediately heard back from a contracting company for the Navy and 3 months later I am working for them. This is probably the most awesome and Unique job Ive ever had. I am a civilian but work hand in hand with active duty Navy all day. In fact i would say that there is only about 8 of us contractors and mostly LPN's. I work on the Marine corp base (as the navy provides medical for marines). I just wanted to share what an awesome opportunity this was. I love my job and wake up each morning excited to go to work, what a change! Also my job is fairly easy, we get busy but is definitely low stress. I couldn't be happier and i make decent money as well!! Anyone else out there ever work for the military as a contractor or civilian before? what are your thoughts?

Congrats! Those are TOUGH jobs to get right now. Hang onto that contract!

i also had a contract working with military and LOVED EVERY MINUTE. since the contractor was cut that i worked with I have been trying to find a new agency that has a government contract. Congrats on your position and if i can ask who is your contractor? typically if an agency is awarded one contract they have more at different locations as well. just curious :)

Hi Niki,

I also just recently moved here to Hawaii and have been working hard to get a job at a military clinic as well. My husband is working at k-bay and was hoping you had tips on applying for these positions. There doesn't seem to be many openings on usajobs.gov. How did you apply for your job?? Congratulations, by the way, I'm so jealous!

I dont know if this helps, but when I was there, I worked for Kahu Malama nursing agency and they kept me employed at Tripler. There were several other companies at Tripler as well.
