military contract nurse
i also had a contract working with military and LOVED EVERY MINUTE. since the contractor was cut that i worked with I have been trying to find a new agency that has a government contract. Congrats on your position and if i can ask who is your contractor? typically if an agency is awarded one contract they have more at different locations as well. just curious :)

April 2 NCLEX RN Issue
i heard back today and my request was denied for a retake from pearson. they stated the technical problems did not impact any of the tests and no retakes were going to be issued to anyone testing april 2. and they did not address any of the issues directly nor would they comment on how many questions were answered. they just said that the test is not based off how many you answer (which i already know) its on how well you do....i give up guess i will be paying more $$$$ so any help would be great. anyone who was given a retake due to technical issues would you please let me know who you contacted or who contacted you.

I Love being a Christian Nurse
I too was interested from the post and began to read EVERYONES postings. I find it hard to believe how judgmental some can be. "I Love Being a Christian Nurse" simply tells me who the person is. Does it make a difference in their nursing? I can't say and would not comment as if I did know. I can only comment for myself.... I can say I love being a Christian Nurse or a Nurse who is Christian. I am sad that the original poster has come under attack.. as many posts seem to. As I said I can only speak for myself...... After I was diagnosed with a brain tumor; told I was not a candidate for surgery I prayed ALOT and asked God to direct me to my next path. The more time spent in the clinic, and talking with other patients the more drawn I was to nursing. It was then I quit my job and began nursing school. 1/2 way through my LPN schooling they found a hemorrhage around my tumor and decided that I was now a great candidate for surgery. They bumped up my surgery & the Minister was in with another patient; my mom and I were about to pray when the nurse came in. I asked if she would like to join she declined (no problem) but then she added her two cents (as many have on here) "I don't know why people bother, the doctor is the one who is holding your life in his hands; but if you must can you do it quickly so we can get you to the OR" I was shocked....After my surgery I finished school. And for the past 5 years I have worked as an LPN and graduated with my ADN. Does being a "Christian" impact my nursing? I believe it does... I accept everyone! I love and have understanding for everyone and will do the best for my patient and all works I do I do in the name of the Lord. God has brought me down this path in my life and granted me the knowledge and abilities needed to care for ALL my patients. NOT JUST OTHER CHRISTIANS! If I have a patient who asks me to pray with them I will. If they are of a different religion and ask if I will take part in a "prayer" or custom which provides them comfort pre, post or during their stay I will. I DO NOT push my beliefs onto others. I DO NOT wave a flag around intending to offend. Do I pray in public? YES! Do I pray for my patients? YES! Do I believe in the power of prayer? Yes! Do some that I work with think this is odd? YES! When i have times of trouble..I can pray to God for anything and know i have help. Do they accept me as I accept them? YES! Why? Because we respect each other. I make it a point to review my clients religious status on record and let them know of services offered; I have also taken classes on many different religious customs as well as different ethnic customs so I can be a better well rounded open minded nurse to my patients. I also donate my time and nursing skills to different organizations and charities. I believe that with my beliefs it makes me a better person, more well rounded and the ability to give quality healhcare to my patients. George Bernard Shaw said “There is only one religion, though there are a hundred versions of it.” Here is an interesting link about spirituality and health care The role of spirituality in health care

failed again....
I truly feel your pain. I just failed my 5th time. I am SO happy you are getting supportive posters on your thread. Please include me as a HUGE hand holder  And pumper upper..:w00t:. We just need to keep plugging away. I too suffer from test anxiety(I know some people think its an excuse but if you have it you know its real) if I may ask has your counseling helped with that? I have been thinking about starting...the medication given to me from my M.D.for test day doesn't work...anyhow. I just wanted to say you are not alone. Each time I have gotten "above passing standard" in all areas but one. Each test that area changes. 1st test: 120 questions 2nd test: timed out and 225 questions 3rd test:85 4th test: 75 5th test: not sure computers where dumb that day and it didn't tell me what question I was on...I would guess between 80-120? Maybe? (multiple problems/different story) but just know that you are not alone and if you ever need to talk or anything please email me. My new strategy is I have recreated a test booth in my closet and study in there (a lil crazy:bugeyes: but thinking might help with anxiety) and thinking about taking Kaplans class once I come up with the $$. Well good luck and like I said just know you are not alone. On a side note a N.P. That I respect VERY much told me the other day she had to take her boards 8x and that in the long run those who fail and have to work harder will be greater nurses in the end. (she is not one to BS you to make you feel better) so I am focusing on that you can too.

nclex horror
wow first off...i posted mainly to vent about my frustrations and to see if anyone would have any insight as to how to battle the beast. i never thought i would get feed back like some have posted....my comment about giving up was a "vent". so here are some things i would like to respond to mainly the comments from rnsrwe but some others as well. "i am not disrespectful, i simply don't think the op is likely to pass, and i said so. when her post was disrespectful to licensed lpns, i called her on it." rnsrwe 1. i was not putting down lpn's. i have been a lpn for over 5 years and loved every minute of it. had you read my post with out pre-judgement you would see that my post was saying employers see on my very full and deverse resume that i graduated with my adn. they have openly stated that because of this they will not hire me in fear that once i pass my boards i will leave and take on a higher paying rn position somewhere else. even after i assure them i would continue to work as a lpn until a rn position would open up within that facility. 2. just because i have had problems with my nclex does not make me an incompetent nurse!!! i graduated with a 3.75 gpa and have a very diverse resume. hell many of my jobs i trained the rn's. 3. and yes it is possible to "recall and apply information learned" in a real life situation and test poorly. i have never once had a mistake while caring for my patients; and actually i was able to prevent many things and aid in diagnosis in many critical situations prior to them becoming life threatening because of the skills i do have. sorry but to me life is not multiple choice, select all that apply, or pick the area. it can go both ways...i worked with a girl i went to school with entire time everything came easy to her 4.0 passed boards the first time; well while working a crisis came up and she froze. no clue what to do. had the book smarts but lacked hands on. 4."bs'd you for years" no one has bs'd me including myself thank you! i know my challenges and my disabilities. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. ... yes nclex puts those sought after little letters behind your name. but i can tell you right now that i know which nurses on this board i would let take care of my family members and which i wouldn't let in the room. to me being a nurse is more than the letters behind your name. its when i go up town and see clients i have cared for alive with their families and they smile at me or say hi! because i made a positive difference in their life. for everyone else's comments thank you; i will keep plugging away regardless if others think i may "not have an aptitude for" **side note** pearson is still reviewing my technical problems experienced while testing as of friday; i will check with them today.

thanks everyone. however my master plan this time was to take them the 2nd so i could get my results today which is my dads birthday and give him some good news (hasn't been a good year)....i see that plan in the trash can now...i did not pass this was my 5th attempt at taking them. it will be interesting to see results when they come. so far each time i have been "above passing standard" in all areas but one; however each time i test that area changes. i have taken so many review courses and spent so much $$ and now everywhere i have applied doesn't even want to hire me as a LPN cause i graduated with my ADN and they think i will leave once i pass boards....i think it might be time for me to accept this test has won and move onto something else...

misterchips. i hope that is true :) gives a little hope to this girl  i also had called pearson today but to let them know of the technical issues i had while testing. i know it will have no reflection on my results and i stated that when i called but i just wanted them to know that after we put SO much into getting ready for this test which controls our life and we pay so much money our stress and anxiety is already sky high and to have all the issues pop up that i did was cruel. i get such anxiety testing (any test not just NCLEX) i have to take medication prior...(don't worry i am a good nurse and have references to prove; i do know my stuff and great in the field) ....i just have always been a crappy test taker. and to have a computer that froze up multiple times, no calculator (which i can work with that), no clock to see how long i have or how much time has gone by, and not to see what problem i was on....yeah no added anxiety there...LOL so after expressing myself to them she said that they were aware of the situation and that my center was not the only one and that they are reviewing the situation and gave me a reference number to follow up on...um ok and that will do what now? she said to call back in a few days....again i asked why cause my results will be posted by then and it really doesn't matter. and her reply was to call with that reference number to follow up in a day or two....did you mention the technical issues you had? cause i don't see what following up is gonna do once the results are in. lol

Pearsonvue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 3
4:01 am by misterchips 4:01 am by misterchips a member since apr '12 - from 'glendale, ca, us'. posts: 4 i think we took the test the same time this morning. i took it 8am and finished it by 10am. i was a bit disappointed bec there was no calculator and i had to manually calculated some of the numbers with decimal points. when i got home around 12noon, i did the pvt and it got me to the cc page. i am so sad right now. i hope this isn't real in my case. guys, is this a case to case basis? does this hold true to all nclex takers?

rochester? well i hope you passed :) this sucks i have taken the test toooo many times and invested toooo much into this. now i am at a cross roads cause i was working a contract job when i graduated and now even thou i have my lpn no one wants to hire me cause i graduated with my adn so they don't want to invest in me as a lpn...as far as the trick i don't know if it works or not...haven't passed it yet to find out. ;-) and i don't know anyone who has done it other than reading on here....so who knows...good luck keep me posted.

nclex horror
So i took my boards for the multiple time...I tried the Pearson test in the past it took me to the cc page and indeed i had failed. This time i tried and got the good pop up i couldn't believe it so I exited the window went back in and tried it again...then it took me to the cc page...*****!? what is going on? its as messed up as what was going on at Pearson today with computers! Mine kept locking up first I got the blue screen at 30 then I couldn't see what problem I was even on after that...it gave me a break and took another 5min after me saying no to come back up and I had no calculator for dosage calc problems, the timer didn't show to see how long I had left for my test either...when I brought this up to the lady there she simply said "we know of the problem and are working on it; but don't worry none of these issues will impact your results"......REALLY!!! I said to her "how about my anxiety" yeah she didn't seem to care to much....some how i feel like today was ALL bad. i checked with the states site and tried to register with them...got a pop up there "please contact during normal office hours"....it was normal office hours. I gave up after that....ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? OR HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPEN TO THEM? SERIOUSLY THIS IS MY LIFE... And on a side note 1/2 my questions were select all that apply and 1/2 were "after attending a inservice which best describes...." I SERIOUSLY COULD JUST QUIT AND GIVE UP

i think so...i don't know i am at a loss...i got that pop up couldn't believe it closed the window signed back in tried it again and got the cc page so beats me. i went on the states web site and they say can not process request and to contact them during normal hours which when i checked it, it still was normal buisness hours so i give up.
