Geez, I feel like people are being super harsh on here, unfortunately the attitudes that are being thrown at you looks like the true face of nursing. Unfortunately it seems in the "Great Profession" of ours we seem to point the finger and deal with each other harshly. Instead of coaching and supporting we tend to point fingers and criticize others actions. You got into it with your charge nurse, that happens!!!! Everyone doesn't always get along. The important part is you made a mistake it was dealt with and you are still feeling like it is being held over your head. To solve this attempt to schedule a meeting with your nurse manager, leader etc. Sit down discuss your feelings and ask for guidance on how you can put this behind you. I work in a Level 1 trauma center and I see nurses who haven't been nurses as long as I have go into trauma and they struggle and become burnt out. I think it is a disservice to allow someone without adequate experience to be in that position. You are only in control of you. So it is time to pull it together...By this I mean ask yourself, What do I really want? If this is the job you want and you see yourself there then, start by taking a vacation. I say this because you need to separate yourself from this so you can breathe. Do something fun and take your mind off work. Sit down make a list of what you hope to accomplish and take steps to make it happen. Keep leadership in the loop regarding your goals and see if they are willing to help. After some time, once you have taking the appropriate steps and you still feel as though you are not being heard, then maybe at that point this particular environment is not a good fit for you. You may have to work in a different area of Nursing or find another ED to work in. I understand calling out because you feel upset and or stressed, but it doesn't look good. So to save yourself, do everything by the book. In the end once you know that you have done all that you could do, your decision will be easy and you can hold your head high. Hang in there I understand your pain. I am in the same boat, I just haven't called out. (I'm not judging!!!) But, I have certainly utilized my vacation.

Hi All...Can anyone tell me if they know of any company that makes Plus sized 4X scrubs in tall. I can wear a 2X because I have a small waist, however my hips and thighs are a little bit more proportioned. I can fit into a 3X tall in the Wink brand but...the pants are too snug in the thigh area. If anyone can direct me anywhere I would appreciate it. I have been using google, calling local uniform stores and I have had no success. Thank You

I am a "New Nurse" I have been working for 10 months now on a med surg floor. I Love being a Nurse. When I graduated I took the first job I found on a busy Med Surg floor. I admit I did not do any research, I did not shadow or anything. Once I started working I discovered that my co workers were catty, backstabbing, mean etc. None of this would matter because I am there to work not make friends, but if I needed help it was never available. Whenever I ask a question, I was made to feel as if I was stupid for asking. I spoke with my Nurse manager and she made promises that things would get better and they never did. She would always tell me how amazing I was and what a great job I was doing and that she would do anything to make sure I acheived my goals. Overtime my manager started to treat me poorly as well. Just to clarify I am not the only one this happens to, but I can only speak for myself. I found another job and I gave my 2 week notice. This did not sit well with my manager who immediately began to try to tear me down and tell me how my co workers don't like me as well as bringing up mistakes she claimed I had made from weeks and even months prior. When I asked why didn't she bring this up when it happend she told me she runs the show not me. Although I am leaving soon, I am nervous for my license. I haven't made any mistakes where I think my License would be in jeopardy, but I feel like she has it out for me. Has anyone had an experience like this? I need advice, also is it that easy to lose your license can someone just go to the board and fabricate something to get someone in trouble. Im so stressed out.

I am also a new grad and I work on a med surg unit. I am 3 months in and I agree it is horrible. While I do not have to lie about charting I do have unsupportive mean and bitter :argue:coworkers, and a lazy and absent Nurse manager. My nurse manager is never there I have seen her 6 times (yes I counted) in the past 3 months. My coworkers take hour to 2 hour lunches. They do not answer call ligths and the list goes on. I NEVER wanted to work in med surg, but jobs were few and far between. While I know that my floor is the problem, the staff, sometimes lack there of and absent management, Med Surg is still last on my list of ideal places to work. I cant wait for my 6 months so I can start looking elsewhere...

Congrats to you all for taking the NCLEX I wish you all well. Check back on the Pearson Vue website and if you try to register and you get the pop up that says "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration can not be made at this time." That is the official good Pop up and that means you passed. I got it the day after I took my test and I passed. Did any of you find the NCLEX surprisingly easy? Good luck all :yelclap:

Thank you all for your wonderful advice. I knowi made the right decision becoming a Nurse. It's just difficult to work in a less than desirable environment with people who look down on others. But I am a Nurse and they can't take that from me.

Good grief, I didn't mean to start a riot. I love being a Nurse in general but my post was in response to another post that said how do you take care of patients that don't share your beliefs. My response I would take are of them the same way I wold anyone else. I wasn't trying to start any conflict.... I won't post anything else!!!!

Thank you Ashley, you are correct I absolutely had unrealistic expectations. I appreciate your feedback. I did very well in Nursing School so I automatically thought working would be just as easy. Your post eased some of the stress I had. I will take your advice, who knows 6 months from now I may be posting how much I love my job and if not at least I did my best. Thank you Again!!!

ok i amconsidered obese but i have no health problems, i am active and guess what, iwork harder than many of my co workers that are not considered obese. everyonedoes not fit into a perfect category. give a person a chance, the"obese" nurse you turn down may be the one that could make adifference in patient care on your floor. i can certainly understand if theirweight interfered with patient care, but if they are capable in performingtheir job duties, then what is the problem?

I had one of our tech's tell me last night that she was going to leave a patient soiled in bed until I was done passing meds so I could help her change the patient, because Nurses need to know how it feels to be a tech. So I politely told her that I understood how difficult her job was but I would not be done passing meds and doing assessments for quite some time and patients being clean, dry and safe took priority over her wanting to prove a point. I will be the first to say when tech's need help I am the first to help when I can. Also if I go into a patients room for any reason and they need anything from being cleaned up to a boost to a cup of water, I do it, I do not go looking for a tech. She eventually found someone else to help and gave me attitude for the rest of our shift. I told my Nurse manager and nothing was done. It makes me upset because I can only do so much and we are supposed to be a team. I just wish everyone thought this way!

Hello, Does anyone else have any experience with having Lazy patient care tech's on their floor. The ones on my floor hide in a back room. If you approach them and ask them for help they get upset. I try not to waste time searching for them but I need their help. If I have a 6 or 7 patient assignment it is really hard to provide all of the patient care, pass meds and do assessments, not to mention charting.

Do you really need to give your job 6 months. I know now it isn't right and it isn't going to get better. My working environment is TOXIC to say the least
