LVN specialty certification

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I've worked in LTC for seven years, two as an LVN. I don't plan to get my RN, but I would like to specialize in gerontology. Does anyone know of a specialty certification open to LVNs? Thanks

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.

Hello, jalyce,:balloons:

Try here. This will offer certification in IV therapy and gerontology:

I almost forgot....here is one for LTC certification:

And, don't forget to obtain certification in BLS and ACLS. These added certifications make you more attractive when marketing yourself.:wink2:

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

They also offer a Pharm certification as well.

Yeah, isn't that good, txspadequeen? I think it is a great idea for nurses to seek certification.

I am sure there are others. I need to look for some more. Those are ones I knew of already.:)

I wanted to do the Geri cert, but I cannot afford it right now. Thanks for posting these. I didnt realize LVN's had this many opportunities for certs.

When I taught the PN program, I always encouraged my nurses to seek certification. Not too many are aware of the many opportunities for this.:)

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I didn't discover that LVNs could become certified in a particular area until the day before graduation from my LVN program. How pathetic! I think nursing schools should shed more light on these opportunities instead of encouraging every single student to obtain a hospital job in the Med/Surg unit. In addition, it was a job recruiter from Kaiser that casually informed the students of these available certifications whilst assuming we knew about them. We were clueless!

I have my PALS and BLS instructor.
