Dont Know If Im spelling coumadin right but anyway,i know on coumadin you monitor PT but what if the patient has a hemoglobin level of 8 what does that mean would you have to worry about that level?
besides PT what other LAB is important?

(coumadin) You would need to look at their INR to see at what therapeutic level their coumadin is at. Your pt is anemic with a hemoglobin of 8, so if their INR was too high, there would be increased complications associated with wherever the pt is losing blood from (usually the culprit is a GI bleed). A lot of times, if the pt is actively bleeding with an elevated INR, you will see an order for vitamin K to reverse the effects of the Coumadin.
