CNAs who control LVNs and tell them what to do :(

Nurses LPN/LVN

I have a new job..CNAs control the whole floor..They can take breaks all the time and they do not answer the call bells..Also, they tell me what to do and what I cannot do..:( What can i do..:( This is very bad..I am being dragged down...

I Think The Main Problem Is The Charge Nurse. She Is The One That Is Supposed To Be The Example For The Floor If She Doesn't Have The Back Bone To Manage Her Staff She Gets No Respect And Therefore The Staff Walks All Over Her.

I Would Get The Other Nurses On Staff And Talke To The Charge Nurse Collectively About The Lack Of Help Your Getting From The Aides And If That Doesn't Work I Would Go To My Nurse Manager.

I am an Agency Nurse. Last night I had a CNA tell me she flatly refuses to give a shower to a pt who wanted one. I also caught her with a pt in the air on a Hoyer lift with no assistance from anyone else (totally against company policy) She thought that as an Agency Nurse I couldn't do anything about it. Well, she got 1 verbal warning for insubordnation and 1 written warning for unsafe practice. Stand your ground! Your Licence is on the line, let them know that no matter what happens when your not on shift, they will do thier job correctly and safely when your there.

Maybe you guys just needed to get to know each other. I am glad that it is working out alot better for you;)
