Can I take the LPN test somehow?

Hello everyone,

Its been about a year, but I was in the BSN program at Chamberlain College of Nursing. At that point in time I was near the end but I was slipping with my depression and anxiety and decided to take the advice to take a break for my health. I am currently working as a CNA at a nursing home, and we are always short on nurses. One of the LPNs mentioned that I should contact my school to see if I could sit for the LPN NCLEX. I did that and basically got a reply that mentioned that based on my completion for their BSN program that I couldn't. Out of their 3 year program I had only community, collaborative, and capstone left to take. Is it because I didn't complete community or is there anything that I can do? I don't feel ready enough to complete my last 3 school courses (if they let me back that is) as I can't find a steady therapist and work full time.

If anyone could answer this I would love to know, I was just wondering if it was possible.

I believe you can take the PN NCLEX in California after having completed certain portions of an RN program- BUT if you are licensed in that manner- you cannot ever transfer that license to another state. you would do best to get your life issues straightened out and go back and complete that BSN. After all- you've invested all that $$ in it.

Check with your state's Board of Nursing. Some states will let you challenge the NCLEX-PN if you meet certain criteria. However, a license issued in this manner is usually ineligible to be endorsed to other states.

California is one such state that lets you challenge...and the license you get is only good for working in California.

I agree with the PP. Get the BSN if you at all can.
