California; getting license through BreEze

Nurses LPN/LVN

I took my exam April 22 and got my letter that I passed May 1. Yay!! However, I just paid the $150 for my license online through BreEZe but I literally have no clue how long it usually takes to receive my license in the mail. Can any one help me? A few facilities have reached out to me to schedule interviews but I can't work without a hard copy of it.

It sounds like you took the NCLEX and have applied for your license separately. What they have to do is do your background check, verify that you've completed a nursing program (and potentially what kind of program it is) and verify that you have actually passed the NCLEX. Once that info is collated into a complete file, they'll put that file into a queue for processing and once your file bubbles up to the surface and someone processes it, then you'll get your license. You'll probably see your license numbers show up in BreEZe long before you get your physical license in the mail.

I'm an RN, but this is a bureaucracy thing and they tend to follow certain process rules and I suspect that regardless of which nursing license you're getting, the basic process is the same, once they've received an application from you.

I would say that you should keep an eye on BreEZe for your license numbers and once you know what those numbers are, let those interested facilities know you're licensed (and what the number is) and likely about 10 days after that, you should receive the physical license in the mail.

Thanks! I wasn't sure of the whole process so this helps a lot.

Figure on a week or so from the time your license number shows up on BreEZe. It's been taking 2-3 business days from time of payment for me & my classmates to get the license numbers, but can take a week or more. In my case it took about 2 1/2 weeks to get the license number (BreEZe hiccuped and didn't give me an option to pay for initial licensure, what it did give me was an option to pay to retake the exam. Had to have the BVNPT straighten it out on their end...sigh) but most people have the physical license in hand pretty quickly.

Awesome. I paid for it yesterday and I just checked BreEZe today. My license number is posted so I'm assuming I'll receive my license in hand soon. Thanks for the feedback!
