Anyone not feel prepared for the real world?

I am currently taking Adult 1 and mental health, next semester is my last w/ Adult II and Leadership. I can't even imagine being out of school working! Right now I don't feel like I am prepared for anything except giving baths, ambulating someone, or taking vitals! I know I have a long way to go, but did anyone else feel like this? I am terrified that I won't have a clue when I actually have to go into the real world!

I have similar feelings. I recently graduated from an LVN program and have been studying to take the state boards ever since. Honestly, so much of my focus has been placed on passing the NCLEX exam and not enough of it has been placed on practicing 'real' skills such as wound debridement, catheterizing, intubation, assessments, and a whole host of other tasks.

My hope is that I'll perform competently once that license is in my possession. Also, it would be wonderful if my future co-workers were supportive and not the type to 'eat their young'.

You are so not alone! I am a nervous wreck! There is so much comfort and security in school because I have my fellow classmates and instructors by my side! I am so worried about that first year! It is such responsibility!

WE CAN DO IT!

wherever you decide to work, make sure the hospital/wherever has a good orientation program.

Almost all of us feel that way near graduation. Be sure to pay close attention during your preseptorship. ASK QUESTIONS. You will find nurses who eat their young, just keep asking different people questions and you will eventually find someone you can count on to help. The only way I found to get over my jitters was just to get on the floor and do it(after orientation). After a couple of weeks, you will have the confidence you need.
