Beyond bad credit-struck by lightening twice
First let me thank you all! I received some WONDERFUL advice on here! I ended up setting up payment plans with both of them. I am going to request from my father's wife that if she cannot come up with proof of paying it off-then I would appreciate her footing the bill, but if she doesn't then there is nothing I can do but pay it myself. My husband feels terrible and has marked every month on his calendar with when the payments are due to my previously attended college. So it has all worked out. Again, thank you all! I really appreciate all your help!

Beyond bad credit-struck by lightening twice
Um, excuse me, but maybe you need to go back and read my post. I bought the item when I had a job and had no clue that I was going to walk in one day and the company was going to be gone. At the time, it seemed better to hand it to a family member whom I trusted because at least, I thought, it was going to get paid-which seemed to me-better than not being able to pay it at all. As for the second one, it was my husband. I don't think I was wrong in helping him at the time and expecting him to be responsible enough to pay it the following week like he said. He does feel terrible for this. I am taking responsibility. I have never done anything myself to my credit. I have always paid on time and paid it off. I couldn't afford a crystal ball at that time to realize these situations were going to come up. I am setting up payments because they are in my name-so they are mine to take care of in the end.

Beyond bad credit-struck by lightening twice
Thank you all so much! I am starting to feel so much better! I have been trying to find a job while in school so that I can have the gas money to get to school, so I am going to call both of them tomorrow and see if they can't just help me set up payment plans. Even if it is small, it will be something until I am out of school with a real job and then I will take my first couple checks and just pay it all off! Thanks also for sharing your stories with me, I am so glad to know that I am not alone on this. I was so scared that my whole nursing career was going down the toilet! You guys are the best!!!

Beyond bad credit-struck by lightening twice
Ok-I really need to know how this not affects not only getting a job, but my being able to get a license! It is long! I have ALWAYS been careful with my credit. Credit is too picky. Not having any is bad, too much is bad, maxed out cards are bad, paying minimums is bad...we all get it. So anytime that I have had a credit line, I have been careful, used it wisely and paid it off in a timely fashion. So why have I been struck by lightening twice? Here goes- STRIKE ONE In 1999-I bought a computer. Was paying on it and the company I worked for closed. Literally, I walked into work one day and was told we are no more as of the night before. Wham! No job, no income. So what to do with this computer? My father's wife needed one terribly. Took it and was making the payments. No big deal. Trusted her completely, no reason not too. Fast forward to last week-call from collection agency. Bank has not received a payment since 2003, I had been in collections since 2004 & if I don't clear this up, they are taking legal action. STRIKE TWO In January of this year-I had a college bill due in February. I had the money, was getting ready to pay it and husband asks if he can use for some bills his check couldn't cover and he will pay with next weeks check. Fast forward to tonight. I am going through the pile of bills and way in the back are not one, not two-but five letters from this college because it was never paid! The last one was never even opened! So I open it and it is dated for September and says that on November 9th they are turning it in to the State Attorney General for legal action! I AM FURIOUS!!!!!! I cannot believe this happened twice and it hurts that people, within my own family, has let this happened without talking to me when they were in trouble! Both companies want to sue me not only for the amounts, but for the court fees and their attorney fees plus interest! I am in school- I have no job, no money and no assests! My husband has been out of work due to re-aggrivating an injury from when he was in the NAVY. There is no money right now! And now, my credit is gone!!!! So it goes beyond bad credit. Two different companies have turned me in for legal action. What in the world does this do for my chance at a license and/or a job? At this point, I am more worried about the legal action being taken showing on my record then I am the actual credit. Help! Please help-I think I am going to be sick!

please help
Holy cow! 3 ICU patients is a lot, plus you are barely out of orientation. You are about to work your 5th 12 in a row?! Plus your stress/exhaustion almost created a med error! You need to start screaming at the higher ups that they cannot do this-it is UNSAFE-not only for you but for your patients. You need to advocate for your patients that they deserve so much better than what administration is giving them! By continuing to work under these conditions is not safe for your patients and you are putting your license at a HUGE risk! Please keep us posted and take care of yourself!

Radiology?
Check this out from the Occupational Outlook Handbook-it also lists some helpful sites at the end. Good luck! http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos105.htm

What is a "Sitter"?
Thanks! I appreciate the input! I think I will try to apply for it then. I wanted to work as an aide while in school, but nobody will hire me unless I am certified and my school is not giving us the test for that until Feb. So I hope this will pan out. It is hard trying to find a job as a SPN because the hospitals really feel they have no use for me after I graduate. There are so many CNA jobs in our hospitals, it makes my head spin! Sometimes I think that I should just leave LPN school, get my CNA and then be able to just start in on my RN. At least then I could get a job in a hospital and maybe even have them help me pay for RN school. Sorry to ramble. I think my family would just die if I left LPN school-but they don't understand the things the hospitals are telling me when I try to get a job and they don't really "listen" when I try to expain it to them. Thanks again!

What is a "Sitter"?
Hi! I am trying to find a job while in school and there is a posting with a hospital for a "sitter" but I have never heard of that. Can anybody tell what they are/what they do? Thanks!
-
Turned down offer, now change of heart???
Very true! If you call & they say, "No"-well then you know and move on. If they say, "Yes"-well then you do a happy dance! If you never call-then you will never know. Good luck and let us know what happens!

Don't worry, I understand you are not trying to start a debate. I can see why the comment would irritate you. Nursing requires so much than a voice, looks and good publicist. This is a profession that needs more public education so there can be more respect (and hopefully in time better working conditions)

Do you think I could be a nurse if...
do you know why this happens to you? is it something medical that could be treatable?
