Does an online RN degree get the same respect...
I graduated from Deaconess (online) last year and didn't have a problem getting the 2 jobs I have. I'm an RN, that's all that matters!

Need help asap! Nashville area nurses
cutehumor, Those are accurate pay rates for new grads in Nashville. St Thomas has a class for Critical Care and does hire new grads for it. (higher pay, also) There aren't any sign-on bonuses that I know of anywhere in Nashville.

HMA hospitals
I left an HMA hospital in TN 3 mos ago. They took over 2 yrs ago. They are the worst!!! They're cheap, cheap, cheap!!! The quality of supplies went downhill, ratios went up, employee satisfaction went down the tubes and many, many left and are still leaving. Our insurance became a real joke, too.

Im Pretty Sure I Failed Again.
Dave, do you have the 800 # to call to see if you're licensed?? Sometimes that is quicker than the website.

Questions about DCN
Thanks Mona and Cheri!! There's no graduation ceremony for summer. We have to do it in Dec. Haven't decided if I'll go up for it.

Questions about DCN
Deaconess has become very popular and they have many, many more applicants than spaces available. Don't expect them to contact you to see if you're still interested! Nothing has changed since the buyout - except maybe good things. And there are classes starting Fall semester. They're full. I'm extremely happy with the program - I just graduated this past weekend :)

Vandy MSN - Clinical Experience
I have heard doctors say what a bad program it is and that the nurses are not prepared for anything.

Getting the last question right.
I took the Hurst review and she told us that it's all rumor about getting the last question correct and passing. It's over all how you do. She said there are alot of people who get the last question right and fail as well as those who get it wrong and pass.

Just started DCN any advice?
My best advice would be to ask your instructors lots and lots of questions. I graduate from DCN in 6 weeks (yeah!!!!!) and have found all of my instructors to be extremely helpful - both through email and on the phone. Most importantly is to keep up with the readings and attend all of the chats. As far as care plans are concerned there are many internet sites that can help you with them. Also get a good nursing diagnosis handbook. If you have any other questions, let me know!
