I'm not sure exactly I live in St. Louis so I don't have that problem. I know for the class I'm taking this semster it's a one day thing. I know that you have to set up your own clinicals in your home city as you get farther into the course but I still believe you have to fly in for validations. I would call Deaconess and ask them the # should be on the website. I wouldn;t think that it would be more than a couple of days.

Yeah it's for real. It's hard and some people have dropped already. It's located in St. Louis but they have students from all over the country. How did your clinicals go? After reading some peoples forums on here it sounds like a lot of people had a really hard time getting along w/ the nurses. It's kind of discouraging to hear that but I thought maybe some people were just overreacting. : :uhoh21:

Thank you very much that's exactly what I found this morning. Now that the semster is half way over i'm feeling much better. As soon as I pass validations I think I will feel GREAT!! A few in my class have already quit because they didn't like the way the program is being run. I think as long as you do what is required of you it shouldn't matter what you think of the program the majority of what I will learn will be in my clinicals and from what I have heard from others most programs are the same as ours. Are you taking these classes this semster or are you further along?

Susan teaches my lab on Sat. and she said she was the one who changed it to July 5th. You might want to check your calendar and see if she changed it. Tracy has not covered it she just told us to get a book, but Susan sent us a e-mail of a sample one and I think that will help me. I think I was over-thinking it too much.

We didn't really cover it either. Tracy Knoll is my teacher. Who's yours?

I've done most of it but our due date got postponed til 6/28 and it may get postponed again until 7/5 so I'm concentrating on my paper right now since it's due on Fri. I just goggled a couple things on trancitions so I think I'm good. Thanks. How did you do w/ your nursing plans?

I was wondering what you used for your references on transitions? Everybody I talked to is having problems w/ that part. I have all my paper written except for that. Missy

Thanks for the advice. I've been working really hard to keep up. I am taking those courses I wanted to take them in fall but they aren't being offered then. I think I'm just really stressed this week because my transitions paper is due and my nursing care plans. Did you have to do the transitions paper. If so maybe you could help me with something. Deaconess College of Nursing

I just started DCN in may 2005. I wanted to do the on-line program so I could stay at home w/ my son and still work nights. I just feel knd of lost even though I have been attending the Sat. labs for skills validations. If anyone has any advice on how to make this easier please help. I am also struggling w/ my nursing care plans any advice or pointers.

I just started DCN in May 2005. If you are from the St. Louis area it may be a good idea but some of the people that are out of town are having problems. First you need to set up all your own clinical sites and still need to fly in for skills validations. I have taken other on-line programs before but this can be very confusing at times. I have talked to others and they say it gets easier as you go along and I hope they are correct. Even though you do not need to go to class I feel we may do more than others because it's hard to know what to study for when there is barely any insruction. We have designated 1 hour chats a week for each class. If your life is as full as it is right now I would consider putting it off for awhile or finding a school in your community. I study on average 7-hours a day and I still could study more if I had the time. Hope this helps and I'm not trying to discourage you but this school is very expensive and you have to be 100% committed to even think about passing. You also have to be very organized and stay on top of everything or it will not work.
