Took the PAX-RN test Saturday

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hey everyone, I am new to this board. I took the PAX at Delgado on Saturday and was wondering: Did anyone feel like they didn't do so good on it and still made a good score?? And also, I know you can only take the test 2 times at Delgado, but what if you take it a 3rd time at a different school, will they take that score??? Just curious, because I am pretty sure I will have to take the test again.

Well, I just lost a huge paragraph I responded back with but here it is again in a much shorter version with hopes it doesn't do it again! ERRRR. Thanks Maya for getting back with me so soon. Math 118 is college algebra. Math 095 and 096 are intro algebra...pre reqs for 118. I think i'll buy the book everyone on here recommends to help prepare for the Pax...."Review Guide for RN Pre-Entrance". I need all the help I can get when it comes to these tests! I'm a bit concerned b/c of the responses from others about it and the uncertainty of whether or not they passed. This sounds like a monsterous test and I get real nervous test taking! Imagine how I'll feel when it comes time to take the BOARDS! hahah. Anxiety attack time!!!!

Thanks for your help.

Maya, will you please tell me how to start a new topic/thread. I've been looking a long time and can't remember how nor do I see where to click.

Thanks.

Hey, it's really simple. Just go to the LA Nursing Board, and right on top of where the topics start, they have a button that says Thread Starter. And just click that. That's how I do it. HTH

Hi and welcome! You will see there are some very helpful people on this board. ;) I went to Books A Million and bought a study guide. I can't really remember the name of the book right now (it is at work) but I will get back to you with the name. I just looked over the book and that is all it took for me. I made a 115. I had been out of school for about a year and a half, too. So I had forgotten alot of stuff. So all in all, I'd say the test isn't so bad. GL HTH

I used the nln prep book I bought from the dcc bookstore. It is very comparable to ACT prep books, except it includes a section on vocabulary. If I wouldve known that I would not have bought it. For vocabulary I studied prefixes, suffixes, and roots. It didn't make sense to me to study word definitions since the words in the study guide probably wouldn't be on the test. For the reading section I read the tips they had. The biggest tip I read was to concentrate on what you are reading and read for understanding. Do not let your mind drift off to thinking about bills, or the weather, etc.

The math section was a big help, but I didn't have enough time to complete the math section:scrying: I hope I did well. I took calculus 2 years ago and forgot a lot of stuff. It really helped refresh my memory.

Science section was a little tough. Either you know the information or you don't. On second thought, you probably should buy the book. It is a good memory refresher. The questions did come from information that was in the science section. There were questions on circuits. I was NOT expecting that or questions about plants. It was in the book, I just didn't think it was important. I'll let you all know what my actual score was when I get it.

:uhoh21: :uhoh21: Hello Everyone,

I took the PAX exam @ Delgado Saturday 01/27/07, I would like to stay in touch with others who took it the same day. :o I have not had great luck with people on this site responding to the threads that I have posted in the past, but I am hopeful that us new-comers;) will be able to open some lines of communication. I felt that I did ok on the English and Math sections but was floored by the Science, I have completed both A & P 's and felt that I would be prepared, but most of it was Physics and Chemistry neither of which I have ever taken. So, I am concerned as to how I will do. I would like to talk with others who feel the same, I think that we all need the moral support of each other as we embark on this new adventure of Nursing school. So, I am just pleading for some responses, some friends out there that are going through the same things that I am!

i felt the same when i took it on 12/16/06 but i passed so just think positive and everything will be ok. what semester are you applying for
