I failed the TEAS exam last week

Yep, I failed the TEAS exam last Wednesday. Still today, I am crying about it and feel as if I will never get over it. I had such hopes of passing. I was close, %66.5.

Is there anyone outhere that has failed this exam and successfully passed it the second time at Delgado? What made you ultimately decide to take it over again? I am leaning towards not taking it again and just letting go of my dream to be a nurse.

Was the second time around harder b/c you were scared? Did you get the same test? How did you prepare for it.

And most importantly, do you think that by having failed it the first time, that means something?(not meant to be a nurse, example)

I see so many threads of people getting accepted and people discussing about how hard nursing school is, once in. But, the reality is that a lot of people fail this test nationally. I want to talk to the people in my shoes, not just the ones who are lucky NOT to be in my shoes.

As of now, I am scared to keep trying. But I don't want to give up without a fight. Please reply.

Did you get the TEAS study manual from AGI? From what I heard, the questions are similar if not the same questions as the study manual. I believe they also are the ones that make the exam. It's about 46 dollars (price includes the 8 dollar shipping). I always try to invest in getting a study manual for any major test such as the ACT, TEAS, NCLEX, and GRE.

A friend of mine gave me this advice a year or two ago and I will tell it to you. As hard as school is, don't give up and keep focussing on your goals and stay determined. Study! If it helps, write a post-it note that says "I WILL pass this test, get this degree, and make a great nurse!" and place it on your windshield of your car or on your mirror and read it every day." It will help you stay motivated. I did something similar to it myself for my first degree and it helped me stay motivated. I still do it now!

The first time I took the TEAS test I failed. Then I studied for about two months from the TEAS study guide and the McGraw Hills nursing entrance exam study guide. The McGraw Hill is excellent I recommend it, you can get it at Barnes and Noble for 20$. Passed the second time around, it was much easier. The second test was a different version. After failing the first time I was ready to give up to, but I really wanted to get into nursing school so I took my time and got fully prepared. All the hard work paid off, I received my acceptance letter yesterday for the Spring semester 2010. So don't give up. Good luck!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your reply. Its so much different to hear from someone who didn't pass it also. You lived it and you know the feeling. I felt so bad that I didn't want to even go back to school the next day. I just wanted to forget about school and nursing. I felt like such a disappointment and a complete failure.

Well, I have one last chance to take it sometime around March, but I scared. I studied from the Kaplan book I purchased at Barnes & Noble.

Did you get those rock questions? That really threw me off...rocks?

Well, now I am leaning towards going through the LPN program and then making the brdige over to the RN program. I guess you could say I got scared out of the RN program. After failing the TEAS, I feel like I could no longer succeed in the RN program. Someone said right before we went in to take the TEAS that if you couldn't pass the TEAS, you wouldn't make it in nursing school. The test was meant to weed out the not so intelligent. That's horrible to say......

I have read so many people say that the test is sooooooooooo easy and that they didn't even study for it. Some say that its basic common sense stuff. Okay, I don't think it was common sense stuff. You either knew it or you didn't. Some of the questions on there made me go, "What in the heck! When did I study this?! Did I ever study this?!"

:hpygrp:CONGRATULATIONS! On getting your acceptance letter. It must be such a wonderful feeling to finally get that letter. I wish you all of the best!

p.s. thanks for your support.

After I failed the TEAS test the first time I was discouraged and I cried. I thought about looking into a lpn school, but I had put to much work into all the prereqs that I had to take before the RN program that I didn't want to give up. I don't think I had any questions about rocks, but the science part was all over the place. I really couldn't study for the science part because it was so broad. I honestly quessed on every question and I came out with 70% on the science part. I don't care what anyone says I'm happy with that score. You have another chance to take it, so you should take advantage of that. I know you will do much better the second time around because you know what to expect. My first score was 70.6 and my second was 81.2, so you can do it!

Thanks

Brandi

I took the teas today did not complete two parts and scored a 32. yes that bad im hoping to do it over in july but i need some material to study i used and act book to study for the past month. wante to know the second time taking it is it hard and if you passed what did you use to study. please give me a website.

I don't know where you took it but most schools tell you to go to this website http://www.atitesting.com/home.aspx when you have to register to take the test. This site also offers a study manual but you can also purchase the same study manual at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc. This is the version you need http://www.amazon.com/Review-Manual-Vers-Assessment-Technologies/dp/1933107987/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306975859&sr=8-1 it's the most recent ( version 5 TEAS review manual). Definitely get the manual it helps a lot. There are plenty of sample problems that are similar to what's on the TEAS.
