Beware OLOL Accelerated ASN

U.S.A. Louisiana

This may burst the bubble of people who are considering OLOL College Accelerated Nursing Program but it is crazy hard and if you don't get through that pharm with an 80 (also the semester is 20 days long) they will boot you out without a backward glance and a month later you will get a bill for $2000. Not to mention that now you have a nursing failure on your record, if you want to go somewhere else. 75% of the class that started originally was put out. Not nice.

So I am applying to the program for 2012 and considering my situation am going to have to work, (most likely a weekend job).... will this be impossible? At the time that the program starts I will also have a 6 yr old and a 6 month old...however I have great support from my family. I also wanted to know if you apply to EJ campus are you required to sign a 2 yr contract to work at EJ or can you also pick WJ hospital to work at too..because I do live in the wb it would be alot easier? Any info or advice is greatly appreciated!

I am currently in the program at EJ. There is no contract for after graduation.

I was able to find a weekend job while in the program, but the job is very flexible and allows me to study at work. The instructors did say that there is a possibility for weekend clinicals at some point in the program. If u have a job, they must be flexible with this or u better be ready to quit working if school work/studying conflicts. Keep in mind that this is the fastest RN program in the country, so it is basically like drinking water out of a fire hose; be prepared to commit yourself to the program. Good luck!

Thanks for the info..but I spoke with the school yesterday and they informed me that they will no longer have this program...only the acclerated bsn one which will not start again until spring 2013! Im really disappointed because I was looking forward to starting this program!

Hi, ysanchez0216

I was told that the spring 2012 class was going to be the last accelerated ASN program and it will change into a BSN program starting in 2013.

I checked with someone in admissions and they assured me that they were still having an accelerated asn class for jan 2012.

Hey everyone! I applied to OLOL's accelerated ASN program for January 2012. I was wondering if anyone else on here has applied and if anyone on here knows when we should be hearing something??

From what I hear we should be hearing about admission status this month sometime. I have not had a firm answer from anyone I have contact with.

Hey, jbrig and benella89

Are ya'll still taking prereq.? I am and they called me last week to see if I was inprogress with my prereq.

I'm taking a prereq currently and did not receive a call. Hopefully that is not a bad sign :(

ive been checking back on some old blog and read that some people recieved letters around Oct. 25

Hey y'all! Glad to hear from others who have applied! I haven't received a call either. I am currently taking 2 pre reqs - nutrition and developmental psych. I hope it's not a bad thing that I haven't received a call either. I've been thinking about giving OLOL a call to see when we'd be hearing something. The app deadline was almost 2 months ago. I was hoping we'd hear something by now.

i dont think it would hurt to call because i may call next week. So if you call tomorrow update us on any news and i il do the same
