Any TEAS-RN Study groups?

U.S.A. Louisiana

:uhoh3: I am planning to take the TEAS-RN exam this December. I printed out the sample tests available from www.testprepreview.com and I got sick to my stomach just going through them. Maybe I'm just freaking out but I can't remember how to work any of those problems. I want to know if by any chance, there are any study groups in the Kenner/Metairie. My decision on wether or not to continue my path towards Charity depends on my score in this test. I really want to do my best. Hopefully get a score higher than a 70!

Thanks.

i didn't find the TEAS that bad of a test. I went through the study guide they have at the Delgado book store once and took a sample test online once, I memorize things easily when i take them in multiple choice form so when i took it the second time it was worth less. I didn't have as much time as you do to prepare, I had maybe a month and was taking 2 classes at the time so studying for it wasn't a huge priority, sorry I'm long winded today.... long story short I passed and got in. I don't remember what I got though.

:nuke:Thanks for your reply. I guess I'm just worried about getting in to Charity. I have heard so many different stories about people getting in. I am not a 4.0 student but I want to at least give it a try. If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA when you got accepted? I have read here that people with a 4.0 GPA haven't gotten in and others with much lower have...vice versa. People have told me that getting into Charity is like REALLY hard. All of that has me freaking out already.

I have a degree already, so my gpa there was a 2.0 (i didn't have any sciences and almost 200 credit hours) and my gpa at dcc was/is 3.2. Id you go to dcc's website they have the points system they use to decide who gets in. it has changed since i applied last year.

I was told I have a 3.0 CSN Nursing Curriculum GPA so thats 15 pts. With no withdrawn classes or D/F's I got 20 more points. I also got the 10 bonus points for already having a degree. My future at Charity is riding on what type of score I get on my TEAS exam. The highest I can get is a 65 profile score. I'm scaring myself half to death that the cut off will be above a 65. How many people actually apply for Charity each time? I'm thinking if its like 300 people, and there are lets say...130 spots what are my chances of getting in? I'm so scared of not getting in. I think I need to stop reading posts...I'm getting more and more doubtful I will get in.

I would suggest you to buy the online practice just so you know what the test would look like and timed it while you practice cuz you have 60 minutes per each section if I remember right. One code you can practice 2 times I think.

Good Luck and score 100! :D

:DThanks for the support. I purchased the Kaplan Nursing Entrance Exam Study Guide from Barnes and Noble and I printed out the 100 question test online. I have been working math problems till like 3 a.m. My husband says that the way I am studying for this test and all the time I have to prepare for it, I should Ace the test. The Kaplan science sample test has questions from A&P. I haven't even taken the class, how in the heck am I supposed to know the answers? Well, I checked out an Anatomy book from the library. I have been memorizing bones, organs and their functions, and everything else I can think of. Oh god if I keep this up, I'm going to burn out before school starts this August! hehehehe! You just can't imagine how much I want to get in to Charity. Thank goodness I don't work, but my two daughters (1 and 4) surely are a handfull! You know, when I went to UNO I was never this passionate about school. One math problem gave me goose bumps. Now I am doing them till the wee hours of the morning...who would have known.

sounds like you study really hard eheh I wish I were like you. I was like you when I took the test I havn't had anatomy yet. But I don't think it will be on the test. Kaplan science section is kinda harder than the actual test ( I think ). The math part saved my life although no calculator was allowed because English is not my first language. I could imagine 2 kids and school. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 month old and still breastfeeding ( she doesn't let me quit ) so I didn't take anything in the summer.

Good luck and I hope you get in the school you want ok?

Hey Pla84,

Believe it or not, I never studyed this much when i was at UNO. I guess, I really want this that badly. I know that you have to at least get a 70 on the TEAS but I wish to get a higher score to get a better profile score. Your kids are younger than mine and thankfully I never had to breastfeed my girls. Do you work? I don't so I think I have an advantage to get more studying done. Have you been accepted to Charity or are you going to apply soon? If you don't mind me asking, are you Hispanic?

Hi

I got accepted from NSU. I think you will definitely get higher than 70% just keep practicing and you will be fine. I'm not hespanic though, I'm from Thailand. I arrived this country almost 4 years now.

Good Luck:up:

Congratulations on your acceptance!:yeah: I hIope I get better than a 70. I took a break from Studying today. My brain is about to malfunction looking at all those Math problems. I trully do wish I could get this over with. The anxiety is killing me!:uhoh3:

I don't know how in the heck I am going to wait until December to know if I got into Charity. Patience, Patience...

What exactly does the science portion of the TEAS consist of from the test you took?

I've read what it covers, but from what I've read from other people, the science portions are not all the same.

So were there more chemistry questions, more biology questions, or physics questions?
