LNC vs. LNCC vs. CLNC?

by Paco386

Can someone please provide some guidance with respect to the differences between the three certifications? They all seem the same to me. I do know that CLNC is earned through the Vicki Milazzo program, but was wondering if one of the 3 listed certs have more value and weight than the others.

THANKS!

Hello, Paco386,

Yes, the CLNC, Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, is earned via Vickie Milazzo program. You can read about it here: http://www.legalnurse.com/cer/cer_01.html

The LNCC, Legal Nurse Consultant Certified, is conferred via the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). You can read about it here: http://www.aalnc.org/lncc/

LNC, Legal Nurse Consultant, is not a certification. It is a title only.

You can also read about certification and its importance here: http://www.aalnc.org/lncc/about/position.cfm

Hope this helps.

THANKS SirI for your response,

Was curious to know whether the LNCC and the CLNC are regarded as equal prestige in the industry. How do nurses determine which is better for them, and do they essentially provide the same preparation to enter the field?

HI....yes, I was wondering the same thing as far as marketability and desirability of CLNC vs. LNCC...I've just started investigating this avenue of nursing and found many online programs and

1) I was wondering if one was more desirable than the others.
2) The idea of DVD classes appeals to me and I found
one: LNCstat....does anyone know of any others?
3) and for AALNC certification requirements, how does one obtain 2,000 hrs of legal nurse work in 3 yrs? Because of this huge requirement, would
anything other than AALNC be looked down upon?
Thanks in advance!

Hard for me to answer the first question. As with any profession with several designations, you will find differences in opinion as to which one is more "prestigious".

As for which is better for the nurse, greatly depends upon what one is looking for. LNCC is obtained after many years as LNC. CLNC is obtained after very brief preparation with no LNC experience necessary.

See my answer above.

Milazzo has Home Study programs.

AALNC has online programs.

You must be employed (actively working on cases) as a Legal Nurse Consultant to satisfy that requirement.

As stated above, with any profession with several designations, one will find differences in opinion regarding which one is "better" than the other.

IMO, both programs (AALNC and Milazzo) equally prepare one for basic LNC.
