BCTC Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Kentucky

Published

Hi all! Just wanted to see if there are any other BCTC applicants out there. I'm getting super anxious about hearing whether I got in or not, and didn't know if anyone else wanted to discuss our waiting time! Best of luck to everyone. ?

Hey what ever it takes to get them moving, I'm all for it

Is anyone else having trouble with BCTC's page loading? I've tried on my phone, computer, and tablet, and the main page won't even load!!!!!

I am not having problems loading BCTC's page. I just checked and no updates on my profile. I bet they are delayed in posting the results because they had changes in admissions, like for example: rolling admission...

Who said they changed rolling admission? I haven't had any trouble with the page loading but still no update as of 6:55 tonight. Wouldn't you think if they changed to rolling admission they would have to notify that they were doing so? Did someone call to confirm.....fsimis, sounds like you found that out somehow? Well however we find out is fine but typically the benefit of having rolling admissions is that you find out sooner, not later. I think they're just wanting to make us wait it out. :grumpy:

I've already resigned myself to the idea that I didn't make it in. I've never been turned down for anything I've applied, but seeing everyone's NLN scores makes me nervous.

Wish they would post it already so I could schedule my classes for the fall.

I feel the exact same way. I thought i did good on the NLN, but after seeing what everyone else got, it makes me nervous. I keep telling myself im not going to make it into either of the nursing programs i applied for, and it worrys me that they still havent posted the results. i dunno what i will do if i dont get accepted. I think i'll just finish my as. degree (i only need like 10 more credit hours) and transfer to another school to just get my bachelors in nursing. I heard that EKU's RN program is a lot easier to get into. Ugh, i just wish they would post the results so i could make plans for next semester....

Nope, I didn't find out. I just know they got rid of rolling admissions this year. That is what I meant about the changes... I might be wrong. I hope we all know by Friday.

That's my plan as well. I will finish the pre-req's required for a bachelors, transfer to UK or EKU, and go from there. It's a minor setback, but a setback none the less. It's disheartening that no info has been posted yet. Either way, as a stay-at-home mom this will just enable me one more year with my child. I can't be too disheartened at that!

Yes! I do agree with that! i have a 2 year old, and it would give me more time with him. But i know it just pushes off my degree another semester. I really hope we know tomorrow. Either way, i know everything will work out in the end the way that it is suppose to. One way or another, i will be a wonderful nurse, whether my degree is from bctc or somewhere else! :)

Now listen here!!! Be positive. You all are letting the fact that results haven't been posted determine that you're not getting in. Okay so who's worried about the NLN score? I was told by either the Assessment Center or the Nurse Coordinator of the Lawrenceburg program (Uggh I hate that I can't remember which) that a 100 on the NLN is considered "Competitive". I was in line with a girl prior to taking mine that said her friend had made a 114 the day before and was ecstatic. What are we like 6 or 7 people out of who knows how many applicants? There are only a couple on here that scored like 145 and 155 and although I think that's fantastic, I don't think it represents the majority of the NLN testers. The other thing is, I don't understand why if the school has such high standards and so many applicants that meet prior rolling admisson requirements, why they would indicate that you need only above a 50th percentile composite on the NLN. Think of it this way too, if you've noticed on the scoring anything above a 148 is 99th percentile. This means only one thing and that is that it is rare for folks to get above that score. On top of that, even those with higher NLN scores may have crappy GPAs and less credit hours. I just really want everyone to stay positive about yourself and confident. I think the fact that we're all here using a support system for our anxiety shows strong will and determination. I'm glad everyone has a backup plan (except me...well that isn't true cause i will just have longer to complete my CNA and finish P&AII). I promise you in my life if something didn't happen that I've wanted to happen, I've always been able to look back later and figure out the reason why it didn't and see how it ended up better. But that won't matter cause we're all getting in, right?!!!

Ok, so I just talked to the admissions office, and was told that the letters would be sent out tomorrow or Monday, so I'm assuming that the selective admissions account will be updated then as well. The admissions officer did say that there were more than 500 applicants, but there were over 600 last year, so maybe we all actually have a chance!!!

Also, in regards to the NLN scores and GPA, my NLN score may have been great, but my BS in animal science GPA sucks. I'm sure everyone is different. Some of us did really well on the NLN but have mediocre GPAs, while others have excellent GPAs and slightly lower NLN scores. I'm sure it will even all out!
