Anyone Taking the CNA class at Bluegrass this fall?

U.S.A. Kentucky

I'm taking the NAA 100 class at Bluegrass (leestown campus) and was wondering if anyone else out there is taking it this semester? Maybe we could help each other throughout the semester. I don't really plan on being a CNA, but I know the class is required for entrance into the ADN program at Bluegrass.

So... Anyone else taking it?

If you are planning on working in long-term care, being a CNA *would* be a wise decision! My wife is an LPN with 20-something years of experience in long term care, and she will tell you that the worst nurses she's worked with are the ones that were never CNA's. You can not appreciate what those below you have to do, unless you've been there. Additionally, there *IS NO* greater exposure to patient care in a long term setting, than being a CNA. This is all relevant, of course, if you are thinking of working in long term care. By the way, I am trying to figure out where I'm going to take my CNA class, and being hearing impaired I never felt comfortable with BCTCS because they said they only had one hearing impaired student and had no idea if she ever got a job or not after graduation. Not every encouraging, to say the least.

Hugs,

I took it in Winchester over the summer. I'm starting nursing classes this semester, so I had to do it over the summer. I did it over three weeks. It was a lot of reading.

The best advice I can give you is to practice your skills as much as you can outside of class time.

I took my state certification exam about a week after class ended and passed.

Good luck!
